Cheyenne Knight

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Shadow Creek

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Cheyenne, really came down to that 18th hole and that second shot that you had. Just what was going through your mind?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: So me and my caddie were just talking through it. It was a good yardage but just how downwind it was and late in the afternoon, we knew we kind of had to flirt with the front and kind of maybe hopefully bounce it in the rough around the fringe.

I knew if I landed it anywhere on the green it would probably good up top. I hit it and it was kind of exactly what we were talking about, and saw it trickle down there towards like the hole. I think it almost went in, but it was nice to have a tap-in and, yeah, halve the match, which was huge.

Q. What was the mentality going into today?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, I think just like same thing: be aggressive and stick to my game plan. I got off to a slow start. I didn't play the best today. I was 2-down early and kind of brought it back.

But I'm also at the same time I feel like I hit some shots this didn't get rewarded so I really had to grind it out. You know, like on these greens, they're so complex and difficult, I can hit a shot that we wanted to do and I can't control the bounce or where it ends up.

So hit some good shots today but didn't end up in the best spot. I really grinded it out and hung in there and fought until the very end.

Q. It will be an earlier morning tomorrow and the potential for a lot more golf. What do you do to conserve that energy but still keep your mind at ease knowing there is a lot of holes at play here?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, I think, yeah, one hole at a time. You know, just try to stick to what I'm doing. It is a quick turnaround, so just knowing that you're going to be a little bit tired, but it is match play and kind of mind over matter.

Yeah, I hope to be playing a lot of golf. That's what I want to be doing, so I think just like the mentality of it, yeah, mind over matter and just make sure I stay hydrated out here and get some rest and eat good.

Q. What does it do for not only your confidence but your comfortability and how you're playing right now to be able to, as you say, grind it out for -- I know it was tie -- but for the group win?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, I think the last few weeks just being kind of under pressure I've learned a lot about myself and how I need to respond better to the pressure sometimes.

You know, being in these tight matches the last few days I've learned a lot about myself, and, yeah, always learning and wanting to get better. I want to be in these high-pressure moments, and just seeing how I responded well to it today is a big confidence booster.

Yeah, just learn every day and just get better.

Q. We've seen this event really be a catalyst for the rest of the season. We've seen some impressive performances from you as of late. But what do you think this weekend can bring to you?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, you know, we don't play a lot of match play, but I feel like match play is high pressure every shot. It's not like you're just playing the golf course. You're playing someone head-to-head.

So I think it's great for me to just be in these pressure situations. You know, putts to win the hole or halve the hole, you know, those are high pressure all day.

So I think just how I can respond better and do better under pressure, and also like hit the pressure shots I'll fall back on, and I think it'll just help me the rest of the year and hopefully be in those moments again like I have earlier this year and just build on that.
