Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Angel, sitting here talking about playoffs, but didn't have to happen for you today. How nice is it to walk away the winner of your group?

ANGEL YIN: Feels amazing. You know, we had great players in the bracket, so feels good to be moving on. First time moving on, too, so feels good.

Q. For you to go up against someone like Ally who has won this tournament before, you both played match play together at Solheim on the same team, what is it like to be up against her?

ANGEL YIN: I know today -- going into today was tough. I mean, every day going into match play is tough because there is no like huge advantage, especially on this course.

I played with Ally before and I know she's a grinder, so I know I just like had to play my game. I mean, like we started out and she like hit it to like a foot, so she was playing good.

Yeah, so I know it was going to be tough. Just played my game.

Q. You went 1-up on No. 6 and never gave up the lead. What clicked for you after the first five holes?

ANGEL YIN: You know, actually I think I hit it better today -- off the tee especially. Yesterday off the tee was a little rough for me. I was hitting really good drives but the line here on this golf course is super demanding. You have to hit a certain spot and you're -- probably your fairways are probably only ten or fifteen yards wide, and if you don't hit it to that spot you kind of get stuck behind places you don't want to.

Today I was just hitting my lines better, and even when I missed it it wasn't too far off. So I think that really helped.

Q. You seem to be up at the turn every day. Do you enjoy the front nine or does the front nine fit your eye better? Is it just coincidence?

ANGEL YIN: I think it does fit me better. I'm going to go back and figure out my back nine, because I feel like my back nine could be a lot better.

After the 11th hole I think I made four bogeys in a row. It's just small mistakes here and there. I feel like I can tighten that up and then do better on the weekend.

Obviously everyone is going to be more tired; mistakes will happen. So have to be more smart I guess to say when I play out there on the back nine.

Q. So looks like you're playing Celine tomorrow morning. Any thoughts on that? Have you ever faced her in Solheim or anything like that?

ANGEL YIN: No, I haven't faced her in Solheim yet, so this is good prep. Going to go out there and try to show my captains what I got, and maybe we can do that in Solheim again.

Q. Is it hard to get that out of your mind when you're at a match play event?

ANGEL YIN: In what sense?

Q. Of like showing off for Stacy and the captains.

ANGEL YIN: Oh, I didn't really think about it until Angela showed up on the last three holes when I was down. She's like, you got to show me something good. Now that you're here, yeah, of course. I actually ended up tying the match which was really good.

No, you can't really think about something like that because it's just your opponent right there. Just got to be patient, play your game.
