Lindsey Weaver-Wright

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Shadow Creek

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Lindsey. Congratulations. Decisive victory. Talk about today and what all went into your round.

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Yeah, I knew if I just could stay steady and make pars that pars are good and they can win holes oftentimes.

So as long as I kept doing that and trying to hit greens and hitting fairways, then I would be in good shape.

Q. You've been kind of the leader in your pod for a bit. Just what's it like making it out and looking forward to the round of 16 now?

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Yeah, I think I was actually -- I was definitely the worst seeded one in my bracket, so I knew it was going to be a challenge making it out.

Yeah, I think the last couple days -- this course is playing incredibly hard and sometimes you can't even hit driver when it's a 300-yard run-out; it's playing that firm.

And so it's hard to hit greens and hard to hit fairways, so I think I've done a good job of that and making pars and being conservative, because that's what this course requires.

And just really staying patient.

So I think that's what I'm going to have to do this weekend.

Q. You went to 17. Obviously played 18 when you play stroke play. Do you see it as kind of an advantage to see as many holes as you can over the last three days in order to advance as far as you can?

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Yeah, I definitely haven't made it easy on myself. I was 4-up with four to play and took it all the way to 17.

First match went to 17.

Second match went to 18.

So I have played a lot of holes in the last couple days.

Yeah, it helps to see the course, especially seeing 17 multiple times, which can be a really make-or-break hole.

Q. Were there any moments in the round where you thought that was really key? I saw you make a really nice par on the par-3, 13 --

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Yeah.

Q. -- to kind of keep the momentum going. Were there other moments like that for you?

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Yeah, I made a really good par on 18 -- no, on 8. On 8, the par-3 I made a really good par there after she chipped it really close.

Hit a good shot off the tee and just funneled off into the rough and had a pretty tough chip back to the pin, but made like a 15-footer to tie that hole.

And then won No. 9 just by hitting the green, which was really a good shot because that green is almost impossible on the hit.

Had a good little stretch there. I won 7.

Then made a putt on 8 to tie that.

Won 9.

And then, yeah, made a really good putt on 13 to tie that hole as well.

Q. So you had a pretty spectacular amateur career and a really solid professional career, but you haven't gotten to the next level yet. What do you think needs to happen for you to get to the winner's circle at some point?

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: I don't know. I mean, last year I lost in a playoff for the win at ShopRite, but, I mean, sometimes all it just takes it one good week when you're feeling it.

That's how was it for me at ShopRite. Played really well that week and everything just kind of fell into place. You just never really know. Golf is funny that way. Can't really have too much expectation or get too down on yourself. It's a matter of confidence.

Q. Are you feeling it this week?

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: It's been good so far. I feel like I'm playing pretty well, especially for this golf course. It's just the setup is crazy, so we'll see what happens.

Q. Yeah. So if I'm looking at the bracket right, looks like Sophia Schubert tomorrow in the morning.

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Okay.

Q. How do you feel about playing someone like that?

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Good. She's a great, nice girl, so I think it'll be a fun match.

Anything can happen in match play, so just going to take each and every shot and hole as it comes.

Q. Are you prepared to play 72 holes if you have to?

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Sure.

Q. Beats the alternative?

LINDSEY WEAVER-WRIGHT: Yeah. I'll go as far as I need to.
