NBA EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS: HEAT VS. CELTICS

May 25, 2023

Erik Spoelstra

Miami Heat

Game 5: Pregame

Q. Saw Tyler Herro out there just now getting some shots in. What's the progress with him?

ERIK SPOELSTRA: You probably know more than me. I did not see that. Same status. There's not an update on that. He's just starting this.

Q. I know it's positionless basketball now, but when you see Jayson running the point, is that something that you see -- I know you guys scout inside out and back and forth, but is that something that alters the way you approach their offense?

ERIK SPOELSTRA: Look, at this point now, he's evolved so much. He's on the ball, he's off the ball, his traditional position of three, he also plays 4, plays at the point of attack. All the great players eventually get to that point and you just have to figure out a way to overcome all of it.

Q. On Duncan Robinson you've talked about his evolution and how he's changed as an offensive player. When did you have that conversation with him, and what was it like once he obviously started to get chased off the three-point line and had to make changes?

ERIK SPOELSTRA: I mean, it was pretty evident that we were going to have to develop other aspects of his game. He's a gym rat. He wants to work on everything all the time. Whenever that was, two or three years ago, everybody was pretty committed to getting him off the three-point line. He had to work on different ways to still help our offense, which he always does.
