Quick Quotes

Q. Just talk us through a little bit of the match out there today.

WELLS WILLIAMS: Yeah, I mean, it was a really good match. I think we were either tied or 1-up for like I think the majority of the match. I think we were 1-down for, I guess -- we were 1-down on 18 tee and 1-down for one other hole. I feel like me and Carter kind of had some momentum.

There was definitely a few times that we had some opportunities that we didn't seize, and that was eventually our downfall on 17 when he hit driver to three feet.

Yeah, I missed a pretty short birdie putt on 11 that didn't help us, so it was kind of -- there was kind of a few parts of the match that -- yeah.

CARTER LOFLIN: We were playing fine. We were 1-up through 8, I think, and we were cruising right along and nothing super stressful at all. But 9, hit it up there to about eight feet above the hole, maybe nine feet, and I guess it was a lot faster than I thought it was, and hit it like four feet by and three-jacked, so that kind of stalled the momentum. It seemed like every birdie on the back we made was pretty much -- they either matched it or made birdie and beat us.

But yeah, you can't do much about the 300-yard forced carry into the wind on 17. That was the best shot I've ever watched probably in person. It was unbelievable.

WELLS WILLIAMS: He gets up on the tee, and I don't know -- we had the honor because we were tied at that point, and I don't know, whatever, we won the hole a few holes back. But I was like, should I pull driver? Like he's going to pull driver and probably hit it up there on the green, and he was like, dude, I just don't know. I don't know if it's worth it. I don't know if we can get there. I was like, I don't know, dude. Like I feel like I have to try almost because --

CARTER LOFLIN: You knew he was going to do it.

WELLS WILLIAMS: But I ended up just taking 3-wood and hitting it a few feet in the left rough.

CARTER LOFLIN: Make him beat you, and he hit the shot.

WELLS WILLIAMS: That hole, there's no good tee shot on that hole. There's just not. The fairway is tiny. You hit it through the fairway into the rough just about every time you hit that shot.

Q. Obviously you probably fell short of the ultimate goal, but still an awesome showing, second straight semifinals. What are you going to take away from this week?

CARTER LOFLIN: I think that our game is in a spot where we need it to be going into the summer. I think we're both hitting it good and chipping good and putting good. I think it's been a minute since either of us have played in a tournament, but we're still hanging around. Our games are still there.

I think it just gives us a lot of confidence heading into the summer that we can play some good golf and hopefully have a good one.

WELLS WILLIAMS: Yeah, I mean, I feel the same way. I feel like we for the most part, everything that we did was real good, and there was just a few things that I need to definitely clean up that I'm going to go practice on and learn from from this week.

Q. 10, 20, 30 years down the road, what are you going to look back on the past couple years teaming up together? What are you going to think?

WELLS WILLIAMS: I don't know, maybe 30 years down the road me and Carter will be back here.

CARTER LOFLIN: You never know when you're going to be back. I don't know, I've never --

WELLS WILLIAMS: Hopefully not 10 years from now, but maybe 25, 30. Yeah, maybe.

CARTER LOFLIN: I think one thing we can probably take away from this week is that we're both pretty clutch. I think that's kind of the main thing. We had a lot of gritty par saves and birdies. It was good partner work all week.

WELLS WILLIAMS: Yeah, there weren't many -- I guess there were two times today that I'm thinking of that we missed opportunities, but there was definitely like four or five times today that we had to make a putt to keep momentum or we had to make a putt to match them for birdie, and we did it every time, so it was good.
