Oak Hill Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. First thing's first. The conditions, how difficult did you feel like it played today?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Well for an average golfer, they would probably -- something that's scratch, a normal scratch, they are not breaking 80 for sure. It's a very difficult golf course out there, and I felt like I shot a few under par out there despite 6 getting me again. I really didn't play the hole bad, I flared it a little bit and the wind picked it up and just barely went in the water today.

Drove it beautifully on that hole and continue to drive it well tomorrow on the whole golf course, and just hit my irons a little bit better, I'm not doing that well the past couple days coming in. If I can finish off with that tonight, just feel like I'm hitting it comfortably, dead straight on my line with my irons, I'll be good tomorrow.

Q. How does it feel to be back in the mix in one of these big ones?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Same thing as when I was -- three or four years ago.

Q. Feel like nothing's changed?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Nothing's changed. Same person. Have a little more patience, I will say that. I've got a guy on the bag that's definitely been awesome to help keep me calm in situations, like I made a bogey on 13, let's go, you got it. Make birdie on the next few holes, and sure enough we did.

Q. Where did you find your you used that patience more than in the past?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Shoot, I'd say even on 6. 6 I was just a bit dejected, like everybody is rising up the leaderboard and we're falling back. And G-Bo was like, "No, we are good, man, we've got a lot of holes left. We've got a good stretch coming up. Use your length to your advantage, man." And that's what we did.

Q. Were you surprised by that reception at 1, and did that really fire you up, like I'm going to show these guys how good I am?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: No, I don't care. I mean, it's not a big deal. I mean, they are going to do that no matter what.

Q. Unfortunately?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: You know what, look, it's New York, and I expect it here, I appreciate the fans, them doing that to me. It's like, okay, cool, no problem. I've got no problem, either way. If we got applause, that's fantastic and if not, you know what, whatever, it is what it is. It still was fun today.

Q. How would you describe the dynamic between you and Brooks now?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: I think we have a common goal, growth of the game. We have franchises to focus on now and also good golf to play.

Q. If you had one thing that you had to pinpoint for tomorrow in your game to be successful, what would it be?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Well, it's every part of it. It's driving it well, iron playing it well and making a lot of putts. So if that narrows it down --

Q. That's three.

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: The whole game has to be on par to win a major championship. Subpar, actually. It's got to be better than par.

Q. Were you on par at all this week in your mind?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: The first day, I was. The past couple days, I've been pretty close, A minus, B plus game. Just haven't seen it through the past couple days. I haven't been able to get that left wrist down the way I want it to.
