Q. Obviously tough in the end but you must be delighted with the week you've had?

KIPP POPERT: Yeah, it was great fun. I mean, this is the first-ever Open, and to be in contention, and I played really well. So Brendan deserves it, and I couldn't be happier for him.

Q. Was it like a match-play contest there in the end?

KIPP POPERT: Yeah, I was playing really solid. I playing really solid the whole way. On, I think it was on 8, Ben and I got the wind wrong off the tee. Hit 3 hybrid. If I had hit 3-wood I would have been onto the fairway, so dropped a shot there.

Then on 18, saw in my yardage book it was 208 yards run-out and committed to drive and drove it long. It was great fun. Played well. Holed a lot of good putts. Short game was good this week. Yeah, very happy.

Q. Getting in front early, was it a seesaw?

KIPP POPERT: Yeah, to be honest, once I got in front, I was trying to make my lead bigger. Basically it was just one of those days where Brendan beat me. Well done to him and he deserves it.
