Ryan Palmer

TPC Craig Ranch

Quick Quotes

Q. 7-under 64; what did you like about your opening round?

RYAN PALMER: 7-under 64. No, it's great to get off to a good start. I've been struggling for quite some time now playing Thursdays. It's two weeks in a row I've been able to do that. A lot of good things happened last week in Charlotte. It hasn't been the best couple months for sure. But I'm starting to get the feeling back.

Hitting the ball well, but I'm starting to make putts. The one thing keeping me back is those 6- to 12-footers for birdies which allows you to shoot low rounds. I'm starting to do that, which is nice. Yeah, great feeling to play well on Thursday, get right there after what those guys did this morning, and it's going to be nice to come out early in the morning and get back after it.

Q. What momentum and takeaways did you take away from Wells Fargo last week?

RYAN PALMER: Just making the cut to be honest with you. I got within the top 10 at one moment, and I haven't been there in a long time. That's all it takes is little things like that. I ended up finishing 35th, but I took more away from that event just by being in certain positions.

35th is good and all, but it's not what I wanted after playing well. But it's something that I look back and go, that was the start I needed to kind of jump start the rest of the season. It's carried over to today, and I'm excited and happy where I'm at.

Q. Texas guy, what's it always like coming back to this tournament and playing in front of these crowds?

RYAN PALMER: Hey, this tournament is special to me. I always loved coming back and playing in the Byron Nelson. I've got a lot of great friends from the Salesmanship Club and the Red Pants and the things they do for this tournament and the surrounding city, it speaks volumes. I love being a part of that. I love the relationships I've built over my career with these guys. I wouldn't miss this event any year.

I'm always proud and honored to be back here each and every year.
