Quick Quotes

Q. You had arguably one of the larger margins of victory here today with that 6 & 4 match over Lilia. What was different this afternoon that wasn't clicking in the morning?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: Well, I gave myself chances, and this morning me and Maja didn't give ourselves any chances. We were fighting for par all day. She made a couple mistakes and I managed to just kind of stay just one ahead of her on those few holes, and then I made a few birdies when I needed to, but I think I just kept giving myself chances.

Q. How much was this consolation match still a point of pride for Sweden to win?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: We never want to lose, and for us, especially against the U.S. I wanted to tell Lilia, it's not about you, it's about the U.S. as a whole.

But you never want to go out there, we're too competitive to want to lose any matches. It's always important to do your best and try and get that point for your team.

Q. What did you all try to chat about after this morning's matches to really regroup and get yourselves ready to go attack this U.S. Team?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: Nothing really. I mean, we were kind of still hungry. We had played good golf all week, so Australia definitely got the better of us, nobody really got the momentum. I'm thinking now personally that I am probably a better four-ball and single player than I am alternate shot player. That might be something, but at the same time Maja and I played really solid, so we felt really comfortable with our pairing this morning. I think this course suits me really well and my game, so I'm happy that playing a single really worked out well for me.

Q. Putting I know has been one of your woes this year, but you figured it out here, which is a challenge. What changes did you make or how proud are you of your ability to figure it out under such pressure?

MADELENE SAGSTROM: Well, I've struggled with kind of matching the reads and speed together. I kind of took away my -- I've been doing AimPoint. I took away my level for a little bit, hoping it would free me up a little bit, but it kind of did the opposite. I think now when I know I've got a good read, I can just put a good roll on it, and my lag putting this week has been really solid. That's kind of what I really go back to, and I'm happy to make a few, too.
