MUTUA MADRID OPEN

May 2, 2023

Carlos Alcaraz

Madrid, Spain

Press Conference

C. ALCARAZ/A. Zverev

6-1, 6-2

(Press conference was conducted in Spanish first.)

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. Congratulations for your win. Did you expect a so-easy win today, or what do you think? Is it your level of tennis or Zverev was not very fit?

CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, obviously Sascha, it wasn't his best match, but, well, I didn't expect that win. But obviously I played a great match. I didn't let him play his game.

All I can say is I play my best level, and I'm really, really happy with the level that I played today.

Q. With everything that has happened to you in the last year, both personally and professionally, how have you really managed to navigate all of that attention? What do you think have been some of your keys to staying grounded and staying committed to your tennis above everything else?

CARLOS ALCARAZ: Can you repeat, please, the second...

Q. Staying grounded and to really stay committed to your tennis above everything else.

CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, I'm a normal guy. I think that I'm not really, really famous, you know. Yeah, I will always be the same person, you know, with my people, my parents, you know. I think my parents did a great job, you know, when I was really young.

Nothing happen to me. You know, I always be the same. Nothing change for me.
