Quick Quotes

THE MODERATOR: We welcome Talor Gooch from RangeGoats GC, the captain of Fireballs GC, Sergio Garcia, and Scott Vincent from Iron Heads GC. Welcome, guys.

Sergio, I'm going to start with you. 7-under today, bogey-free round. There were lots of low scores out there. Tell us a little bit about your day and why you think everyone's playing so well.

SERGIO GARCIA: Well, two reasons. Obviously the caliber of players here, it just shows. On a day like today where there wasn't much wind the course was gettable. We were able to pick the ball up on the fairway, so that always probably makes it one or two shots easier.

But, you know, with the possibility of rain and storms and stuff, the ball is picking up mud all the time, so I think it was a good decision. But, yeah, just a lot of good players.

THE MODERATOR: That's great.

Talor, I just heard a stat. You are 32-under in five rounds. A pretty impressive stat. The RangeGoats are also at the top of the leaderboard. Tell us a little bit about your day and why you're on fire right now.

TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, I mean, it was a great day. Sergio and I had a bunch of fun out there and Cam as well. Our group played really well again, and we were just kind of feeding off each other the whole day. It felt like Cam kind of got off running, and then I kind of came running in the middle, and then Sergio got it going on the back.

So it was -- you kind of feed off of each other when you're all playing well in the group. Yeah, the RangeGoats, I looked and saw we had a really good day. I was following it all day. So we're in a position to go win tomorrow. So that's the goal, that's what we've been trying to do all year, and we had a good shot last week, and so hopefully this week we can get it done.

THE MODERATOR: Scott, it's great to have you up here. So you were 9-under through the day, which is the low score for the day. Congratulations. You could potentially be carrying the Iron Heads to the podium currently in fourth place. Tell us a little bit about your day and what you guys are strategizing for the Iron Heads tomorrow.

SCOTT VINCENT: Thank you. A lot of things just really went well today, and it was just a lot of good momentum. It's fun to play on the Iron Heads team. We eat a lot of really good food, especially Korean food, so that's fun to do as a team. And, yeah, we just have a lot of fun together.

So it's good to see that we have a shot tomorrow. Yeah, podium would be fantastic for us. Yeah, we're looking forward to it and up for the challenge and we'll see how it goes.

THE MODERATOR: Great. I'll kick it over for questions.

Q. Talor, I think this is the 8th time that you've led or co-led after a round here at LIV. With each of those leads, are you getting more and more -- is it a comfort level or what is the experience as you keep stacking those leads?

TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, I mean, nothing can replace experience. So the more that I can put myself in this position, the more comfortable I'm going to get. Sergio and I talked about it. We have been paired together a bunch here in the last year, and it was fun out there playing with Sergio, and the more you play with these guys and the more you feel like you can compete and beat these guys, the more comfortable you're going to get.

I've been fortunate to play some good golf here over the last year and hopefully we can continue getting more and more comfortable and getting more experience.

Q. Sergio, I know we've talked about the 2018 win quite a bit. Is there one or two specific things this week that you have been able to draw upon from five years ago or is it like a completely new look for you?

SERGIO GARCIA: Oh, I mean, obviously some of the memories definitely help. But at the end of the day, I think that every tournament is a different story. The course is playing similar to when we played it here on the Singapore Open, but maybe a little bit longer, a couple tees that we didn't use there.

So it definitely makes a little bit of a difference, but obviously you know that if you want to contend on a LIV tournament, you have to raise your level as much as possible because all of these guys can play, can really play the game, and obviously it's going to be another -- hopefully another fun day and a good battle out there.

Q. For Scott, obviously you've got your brother here as a reserve player this week. Are you just trying to impress him?

SCOTT VINCENT: That's always a good thing to do. Yeah, it's fun having him here. He's a heck of a player and hopefully he's going to get the chance to tee it up at one of these events and everyone can see how good he is.

So, yeah, I'm excited for when that happens. Yeah, I think very highly of him and his game. So, yeah, we'll just wait and see. It's a waiting game for him, but I think he's ready when that time comes.

Q. When was your last 62 before today?

SCOTT VINCENT: Oh, it's probably been two or three years. So, yeah, always fun to get another one.

Q. Sergio, I just wanted to ask, you are within reaching distance of maybe your first win on LIV. Is that something that you're thinking about or not so much?

SERGIO GARCIA: About what?

Q. First win on LIV.

SERGIO GARCIA: Oh, yeah, for sure. Obviously that's why we are here, that's why we practice at home and work hard, to give ourselves chances. Obviously I've had -- in the last year here on LIV, I've probably had two or three decent chances at winning. I haven't been able to do it yet. But the only thing you can do is keep working hard at it, keep putting yourself in this situation, like Talor said, and just wait for the right moment.

Q. Scott, a couple of questions for you. Just take us through the day. We saw some long putts from you. I mean, I saw a 60-footer on the 13th, I think, for birdie. Just what was working for you today throughout the day?

SCOTT VINCENT: I think you said it. The putter was working really well. That putt there on the 13th was just one that you're trying to cozy up as close as possible and the next thing it goes in. Yeah, it was one of those days today where a lot of putts went in, and it's a lot of fun when that happens. It's nice to see as well.

So, yeah, you take them, you take them when they happen. So very happy about how the day went. And, yeah, it was a lot of really good putting, but the other game was not too shabby too.

Q. The start was good as well. You had birdies on the first two holes, your first two holes?

SCOTT VINCENT: Yes. The whole group actually started really well. We were all under par within the first two or three holes. So, yeah, we were all kind of feeding off each other and, yeah, that was fun and, yeah, we did a really good job.

Q. When we were talking before, you spoke about patience on this golf course. And I think you showed a lot of patience. You started almost with an early double bogey and then you have brought it down to, you know, a total of 9-under -- 11-under, sorry. Can you just talk about that aspect of it and playing at Sentosa?

SCOTT VINCENT: Obviously I love playing at Sentosa. We come here on the Asian Tour quite regularly. So it's nice to play this event a different time of year where you've got a few events under your belt for the year.

So, yeah, always fun coming back. And I know the course pretty well, so that always helps. Yeah, it's just -- for me, patience is something that I can control, so those are the things that I try and focus on. The results and the scores, you can't always control what's going to happen out there, so just trying to keep it simple and do the things that I can control.

Q. One last question, Talor. What would you rather have, a 10-shot lead or a 0-shot lead?

TALOR GOOCH: 10-shot lead.

SERGIO GARCIA: That was a tough one.

TALOR GOOCH: That's why I answered so quick. Yeah, 10-shot lead.

SERGIO GARCIA: A 12-shot lead.

TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, 12-shot, 15- shot.

Q. Sergio, I wanted to get your thoughts on the recent arbitration ruling that went not in favor of LIV Golf?

SERGIO GARCIA: On which one?

Q. The arbitration ruling, the recent court case?

SERGIO GARCIA: The one with DP World?

Q. Yes.

SERGIO GARCIA: Yeah, I'm not part of it, so I don't -- I'm not really paying attention to that. We'll talk to DP World and try to figure it out. But I'm not part of it, so it's okay.

Q. My question is for Scott. You're the Order of Merit winner. That's what brought you out here. I'm sure you were standing on the first tee not thinking 62 was on the card today. But now that it is, standing here amongst 13 major champions, to be medalist in this group, what does that mean to you?

SCOTT VINCENT: It's amazing. Your whole life you dream of moments like this where you get to play with some of the best players in the world and to be here right now and have this opportunity, which started on the Asian Tour, and thanks to LIV for bringing it all together is incredible. I'm very fortunate to be here and I don't take that lightly.

So it's a cool feeling and it's great to be here, and I want to compete with these guys, so it's fun to do that this week.

Q. I'd just like to know, would you like for the LIV Golf to have more than 14 events?

SERGIO GARCIA: No. No. We came here to play less, not to play more. (Laughing.)

TALOR GOOCH: Yeah, no, I agree. It's something we've all talked about in different ways, different facets, but 14's a really good number. So I think everyone's pretty happy with 14.

Q. Scott?

SCOTT VINCENT: Yeah, I couldn't agree more. I've been trying to play less my whole career and there's always a carrot dangling in front of your face for the next thing to chase and, yeah, 14 events sounds amazing.

Q. Sergio, it's your second year on LIV and obviously it's a league that's growing in stature. I want to ask, where do you see LIV in 10 years and what kind of legacy do you want to leave in LIV Golf?

SERGIO GARCIA: Well, I mean, I love the way -- I think I speak for everyone. I love the way that LIV is shaping up and the way that the direction is headed at. So we're all super excited about it. I think one of the best things about LIV is that they're always asking for our input and our advice. So that's great.

At the end of the day, we're trying to play as well as we can, enjoy our teammates, grow the game as much as possible, make sure that the average on when it comes on to golf comes down as much as possible because at the end of the day what you want is it's for your sport to be young and obviously all the older people that play, it's great, but we, the most important thing is to have young guys that are going to carry that game for a long time. So I think that LIV is LIV and us obviously, we're proving that we can do that and we're very proud of that.

THE MODERATOR: Thank you guys hope to see you up here tomorrow. Have a great night.
