April 21, 2023

Sean O'Hair

Brandon Matthews

Avondale, Louisiana, USA

TPC Louisiana

Quick Quotes

Q. 11-under par, always tough in foursomes to get it going. Sean, you've known Brandon for a while. What led to this pairing, and obviously it went pretty well?

SEAN O'HAIR: Yeah, we played some golf when he was in school at Temple, and we played over at Aronimink back in the day, and I was a member out there, and we've kept in contact. Watched him play a lot last year on the Korn Ferry TOUR. I played a little bit out there, as well. When he asked me, I was excited about it.

He's a hell of a player. He hits the ball a country mile. I've never seen anybody hit it so far, so it's kind of fun to have a partner that does that.

I just try and free him up as best I can. It makes a good team.

Q. Brandon, your first time here playing this event. What's your experience been like so far, and what is it that gels between your team?

BRANDON MATTHEWS: Sean is such a great guy. He's so easygoing, and I'm just happy to be partners with him at this event. He makes things easy. Obviously his resume speaks for itself. He's been a hell of a player for a long time, and I'm fortunate enough to be playing with him this week.

The way he plays golf frees me up. He's so consistent, rarely misses a shot. That's kind of fun to realize that I have that in my back pocket when I need it.

Q. With your relationship, is he someone that you've gone to? Obviously your rookie year on the PGA TOUR; did you ask him a bunch of questions?

BRANDON MATTHEWS: Yeah, going back even to Temple, I was incredibly excited the first time I got to play with him. Obviously he's someone that I looked up to growing up as a kid. To be paired with him here is something special, and hopefully we make it a great weekend.

Q. Sean, what's going to be the key for you guys this weekend?

SEAN O'HAIR: Just staying patient. Today was kind of frustrating because I thought we did a really good job of just putting ourselves in the right spots. I think we both hit some really nice putts that didn't go in, and we were playing with a group that they were making some putts and they kind of had some mojo going, so it was a little bit frustrating. But we played well on the last nine holes, and I think we just need to take that momentum into the weekend. He's hitting the ball really well, he's putting it great, and I feel like if I can just feel confident on the greens, I like my chances of playing some good golf, too.

We're excited about this weekend.
