Quick Quotes

Q. Did you ham and egg it out there?

MATT FITZPATRICK: I hate that phrase. Ham and egg is so American, and we're from England.

ALEX FITZPATRICK: We dovetailed.

MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, we did great. We did great. I played really solid on the front nine, he played great on the back nine, and he bailed me out a few times, which was obviously very beneficial, and yeah, it was a great day.

ALEX FITZPATRICK: Yeah, he said it pretty spot on. I don't think he's giving himself enough credit for the front nine. I didn't play very well, so it was nice for him to make a few putts and give us a few birdies while I was scrambling around somewhere. And then yeah, I played nicely on the back nine and I managed to roll in some birdies, which was great, and we kept it together towards the end and finished with a nice score.

Q. Alex, I know you mentioned the front nine for you, a little bit shakier. Do you feel like you got your footing there on the second nine just to kind of come home with some birdies?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: Yeah, a little bit. I kind of haven't been swinging it the best this week so far, so for me, it was just especially on the back nine was how am I going to figure out how to get it in the fairway at least. Hit a few more, which was nice, and that led to a few more opportunities for birdie, and managed to capitalize, which was nice. But yeah, had a lot of fun out there, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Q. Alex, where does this rank in terms of professional events and moments that you've had so far?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: For about -- I guess I've been professional about a year, and it couldn't be further away from anything else. I had so much fun out there. It was extra special spending time with him and being on the course, but playing together and working together is a lot of fun, and yeah, it helps a little bit when you have a good score. Yeah, it was great.

Q. Similar for you, Matt, where does this stack up?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, it's right up there. It's as much fun as I've had on the golf course in, well, about four days, to be fair.

No, it really is. It's just so different. We don't do this, obviously -- well, we've never done this, obviously. I think it's nice to play a bit of team golf. It's something different. I'm obviously not used to playing four-balls.

Yeah, it was a great day.

Q. Does your mindset shift much going into alternate shot in terms of how you have to play it? I know this type of format you're trying to get some birdies.

MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, it's definitely different. For me, foursomes, I think you're definitely playing less aggressive. You're plotting your way around more, fairways and greens, and just keeping the bogeys off the card is what's going to be important tomorrow, I think if we can do that, maybe nick a few, then it'll be a good day.

Q. Is there a certain phrase you'll use for tomorrow? You used dovetail today. What about tomorrow?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Just play well. Just play well.

Q. Is there any American phrases --

ALEX FITZPATRICK: No, no. I like dovetail. I should probably stop saying ham and egg if I'm from England, so yeah, we'll go with dovetail tomorrow.
