MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 8, 2023

Adam Scott

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Nice day for it, Adam.

ADAM SCOTT: Beautiful, isn't it?

Q. Aussie weather.

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah.

Q. How are you feeling with the rain?

ADAM SCOTT: I feel like I just survived. I wasn't feeling great out there this morning, but I managed some good saves. I didn't really give myself any chances. It was just hard work. So I survived.

Hopefully -- I don't know. Just have to find a rhythm somehow and get a couple more looks. I didn't have many looks even yesterday actually. It was just a bit of a fight in the second round, but happy to kind of be under par.

Someone's going to shoot a good score this afternoon, so hopefully it's me.

Q. (No microphone)?

ADAM SCOTT: Well, it's getting that way. 18 was playing so long. If the wind picks up now, it's going to get incredibly difficult. Even blowing 10, the course is going to play very long. And just the variables, the water and everything.

It's going to test us all. I'm going to have to make some birdies still if I want to think about moving into contention.

Q. How much longer can they play in this rain today? How much longer before things get too wet?

ADAM SCOTT: It's hard to know. If it rains like this for an hour or more, I don't know if that's too much. But they do have some sophisticated technology here. I'm not an expert on that. It feels like at this rate an hour could really soak things out, an hour or two.

Q. (No microphone)?

ADAM SCOTT: No. You kind of need conditions like this. I think conditions like this is probably most helpful. It seems optimistic, but if somehow you manage to break 70 this afternoon and the leaders come back, if I can close at least half of that or more, five or six, it would be nice. I'd feel like I'm within shouting distance.

A double and a birdie is a common thing around here, and that's a lot of shots quickly.

Q. How much longer is it playing? 30, 40, 50?

ADAM SCOTT: I hit a 3-iron into 18, and I only had 186 to the front, and it didn't even pitch to the front. So it's playing long. Normally that club flies 240.

Q. What would you hit in normal conditions?

ADAM SCOTT: Normal conditions, I might have hit 5 or 6. Yeah, it's playing long.
