MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 8, 2023

Brooks Koepka

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. I just wanted to ask you, just getting through those six holes at 1-under, can you talk about how difficult that was? And how important it was.

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, it's obviously super difficult. Ball's not going anywhere. You've got rain to deal with, and it's freezing cold. It doesn't make it easy.

You've got to make some pressure putts. You know it was going to be a difficult day. You've just got to grind through it and try to salvage something.

Q. A, what was the most difficult shot you faced out there because of the conditions? B, what's it going to be like tomorrow having to play 29 holes in a day probably to win?

BROOKS KOEPKA: I'm not too concerned about playing 29 holes or however many holes we've got left. It's part of the deal. I'm pretty sure I'll be up for it considering it is the Masters. So I don't think anybody should have a problem with that.

What was the first part?

Q. Just on the most difficult shot you faced out there.

BROOKS KOEPKA: They were all pretty difficult. I'll be honest, they were all pretty difficult. I would say the one that I had maybe 5 tee ball, second shot, or maybe even the putt. 5 is just a straight out difficult hole. I was happy to two-putt that.

Q. I was going to ask you what was the most pleasing shot you hit given the conditions.

BROOKS KOEPKA: To be honest, the putt on 5, it was probably the most pleasing one. Missed it in all the right spots.

Can't believe the putt on 3 didn't go. Yeah, to two-putt 5, I thought it was pretty damn good.

Q. I know it's miserable out, but you increased your lead. Was there part of you that wanted to keep going because you seemed to have more momentum?

BROOKS KOEPKA: I didn't think about it at all. It would be a helluva lot easier just playing normal than it was there, but it was getting -- I mean, that 7th green was soaked. It was very tough. I thought I hit a good bunker shot, and it looked like it just skidded on the water. So I'm glad we stopped.

Q. Was the timing right? Did they leave it a little too long or spot on?

BROOKS KOEPKA: I think it was spot on. Maybe I couldn't have hit that bunker shot on 7, but at the end of the day, it's fine. I'm okay with it.

Q. And you're okay for a big, long day tomorrow?

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, all good.
