MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 7, 2023

Bernhard Langer

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Is there anything you want to say about playing into another Easter Sunday after having won it in '93?

BERNHARD LANGER: Well, I would have loved to be here on Easter Sunday, but I'm going to miss the cut. Yeah, that was a very emotional and very memorable victory for me on Easter Sunday, yes, absolutely. I'm aware that this Sunday is Easter Sunday, and I would have liked to play better and play for the green jacket, but that's not going to happen.

Q. What is your Easter looking like right now?

BERNHARD LANGER: Well, I'm going to have some of my family with me, so we're going to celebrate with a few friends and family and have more time. Don't have to spend it on the golf course.

Q. I'm sure this 40th start for you was special. What were your thoughts playing this week? What were some highlights of this week for you?

BERNHARD LANGER: The highlight is just being here, to participate in the Masters. That's the highlight every year. It's a fantastic tournament. They do so much for golf. They made so many fantastic changes. They take care of their champions. There's a lot of highlights just being here, whether it's the Champions Dinner or just playing the golf course and seeing the enthusiasm of the -- I call them spectators. I know you have a different name for them. Yeah, there's a lot of positives.

Then Mercedes made a special car in honor of me with -- that was pretty cool to see. Rolex has in their pavilion up here, they've got my persimmon driver that I won here 30 years ago and the watch, the Rolex I was wearing during the Ryder Cup, so they have a little exhibition in my memory of my 30th anniversary here.

All that stuff is pretty neat.

Q. What did you need to do better to perhaps make the cut?

BERNHARD LANGER: Putting. Yeah, I putted horrible.

Q. It looked like you were -- looked like you made a pretty good charge at that second to last putt on the 18th green. Were you hoping maybe the cut line might change?

BERNHARD LANGER: No, I knew it was going to be 2-over or 1-over, I think, unless the wind starts blowing, which --

Q. We've got weather coming on.

BERNHARD LANGER: Yeah, but a lot of people are already finished or close to finishing. It's not going to change it that much. I don't think it's going to be more than 2-over or even 3. I doubt it. I knew I had to make birdies earlier on. I made none yesterday and only two today.
