MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 6, 2023

Louis Oosthuizen

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Tell us about playing here in a major championship again.

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Yeah, atmosphere is great. It's great being here. Golf course is soft, is long. Yeah, it's just good being back, and I'm having a good time.

Q. How did you find the change at 13?

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Yeah, it's a very easy decision for me now. I'm not going in two, so I'm laying up. It's, again, probably playing more into the longer hitter than anything else.

A lot of times these changes don't really help the normal field. I think it just plays into the longer hitter's game. For me, that always -- you have to hit a good tee shot around the corner to be able to hit a good shot. Right now it's sort of a three shot for me with no chance of getting there.

Q. Take us through your round today.

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Shaky really. Struggling off the tee badly. Only place I'm comfortable is on the greens really. Going through quite a bit of things in my game and not comfortable on the golf ball.

Not an ideal place to be playing a major, but I'm just happy being here.

Q. You had a practice round with Aldrich Potgieter. Such a huge talent. What do you think about him.

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Aldrich is going to be -- he's the perfect -- the perfect sort of guy coming through right now in South Africa. He's strong, young, hits it a long way. He's got a great head on him, so mature. I think he's going to be really, really good.

It was nice playing with him in the practice round. I know him a little bit. I don't know him that well. I know he's in my foundation, in my academy, but don't really see the guy enough. Huge talent. Hitting it such a long way and hitting it really straight as well.

So I think he's going to learn a lot from this golf course this week, but great future lying ahead.

Q. Last week, as part of the foundation, kids like Martin played in the DP as well a couple weeks ago. Is it great seeing these youngsters come out of the foundation?

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Yeah, it's great. I was in Ernie's foundation, and he helped me set up my pro career. It's a bonus if you can do that to any kid. I've had the privilege of Martin coming through, Aldrich is coming through.

I've got Jordan Duminy turning pro. He's going to come through eventually. He's such a good talent. It's great seeing the guys playing well.

Q. Louis, you said you didn't feel comfortable. How are you going to get comfortable for tomorrow?

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: You tell me. No, I'm going to go and just pop over to the truck quickly, the Ping truck is likely still here. I'll see if I can tweak one or two things. But I need to find something, just the feeling on the range, which I've struggled to do.

So I want to hit a lot of golf balls, but I'll hit a few to find some kind of a feeling.

Q. So you're going to do that this afternoon?

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Yeah.
