MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 6, 2023

Seamus Power

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. You were 3-under, didn't mean to drag you up here after a tough finish, but how would you sum up that round?

SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, it was a bit of a struggle all day, but obviously kind of caught up with me there on the last two. But besides that it was some good stuff. But I didn't drive it well all day and just kind of made some mistakes. That's about it.

Q. You were hanging in there as well with some good par saves on 5 and 7.

SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, I was. Yeah. Yeah, I did, yeah, actually some lovely putts there. Yeah, did a lot of things right, just didn't drive it well. It's tough around here when you're not hitting it in the spots you need to off the tee, so I need to go figure something out on the range.

Q. One better than last year?

SEAMUS POWER: Yeah, I think so, but it's going to be a lot worse at the end of the scoreboard.

Q. What happened on 17 and 18?

SEAMUS POWER: 17, I got a bad lie on the face of the bunker and it didn't come out far enough and it came back off the right side of the green. And, yeah, just kind of misread a bogey putt in the end, actually. But hit a good recovery shot actually from the left and then just got a bad lie up in the face of the bunker.

Q. 18?

SEAMUS POWER: 18, I hit it left again and then I had to chip out kind of sideways and backwards. Then, yeah, I thought I actually hit a really cool pitch like across the green, thought it was going to come back down. But it got stuck in the first fringe and just stayed there.

Q. What's the issue with the driving?

SEAMUS POWER: Not hitting it where I'm aiming, basically. That's all. We'll see. As I said, it's not, I know it's not too far away, it's probably just something in the setup, but we'll get it sorted out.

Q. When you make two holes-in-one yesterday does that like affect your expectations going into a round the next day or do you just treat it the same?

SEAMUS POWER: No, there's no relevance to it at all. It was good fun yesterday, but it doesn't relate at all.

Q. It doesn't translate to, oh, like I know I'm playing well or whatever?

SEAMUS POWER: No, I knew I was playing well, but like obviously there's so much luck to a hole-in-one, it's a cool memory, but that's about all.

Q. Do you count your hole-in-ones on par-3 courses?

SEAMUS POWER: That's probably the only par-3 course I ever played. So I don't know. I'll have to think about it. But at the Masters I probably will.

Q. What's your hole-in-one count?

SEAMUS POWER: 16, if I include those two. So it's getting up there.

Q. Tomorrow, what are you feeling about that being done now?

SEAMUS POWER: I'm not sure. It could be a very different golf course by the time we see it tomorrow. I think that's going to be a big part of it. But, no, I have a good plan for stuff, just kind of have to hit it a little bit better. Putter feels great which is always a nice feeling, always feel like you have a chance. So I think just continue to do that and just hit a few better drives.
