MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 4, 2023

Russell Henley

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. First of all, how does it feel to be back at Augusta? How did you feel out there?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Feels good. Always love being here. Great memories growing up, going to this tournament. It's awesome to be a participant.

Q. When you were a kid growing up in Macon, what are some of those memories? Did you get to come as a kid?

RUSSELL HENLEY: I did. The Barnetts, Matthew and Madison Barnett would take me, and their dad would give me their ticket. They had two tickets. We'd just spend the day walking around and checking it out.

Q. I think there's as many as nine UGA guys in the field this year. What's your relationship like with all those guys?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, it's cool to have all the UGA guys. I feel like we're just going to have more and more. A couple guys seem to pop up every year from Georgia, so it's awesome.

Q. Saw you talking to Ben there a bit. What's your relationship like with him?

RUSSELL HENLEY: I see him when he comes home from college. Since I'm in Columbus, I see him when he comes home for the holidays or when he's at the course. We'll play together sometimes. Still just getting to know him. He's a really nice guy.

Q. What do you think of his game?

RUSSELL HENLEY: He drives it great. I think playing with Larry for the last two days is good for him just to understand the course. There's a lot of course management and thought that goes into playing at this place.

In terms of how he's hitting it, looks great to me.

Q. With your own game, taking the time frame between that win in November and now, how would you kind of assess where you're at and how good you're feeling this week?

RUSSELL HENLEY: I feel really good. I feel healthy. Nothing really is bothering me in my back or my hips or anything. So I'm thankful for that. Been working really hard at my game.

The last couple tournaments I feel like I've played well, so I'm excited to play this week.

Q. You mentioned the importance of staying healthy as you get older. I know you're a dad now as well. What has kind of changed in your approach to the game over the past few years?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, it's just a balance. It's a constant work on what's enough and how can I stay really organized with my time? Time management is kind of the biggest thing.

Q. Lastly, going back to your days in Macon growing up, playing for Stratford, and then going on to UGA, what are those memories like for you, and how special is it to be playing in your state again?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Kind of where it all started. A dream come true to be able to play golf at the University of Georgia. Just really cool to play for Chris Haack. I have a lot of good memories there. I grew a lot in my game and as a person.

Yeah, so just nothing but good memories.
