DIO IMPLANT LA OPEN

April 1, 2023

Georgia Hall

Los Angeles, California, USA

Palos Verdes Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Georgia, making some records out here at Palos Verdes golf club. Heading into this round, what was the mentality you had?

GEORGIA HALL: I knew I was playing really well, and I didn't have the round I wanted at all yesterday, so I was just trying to stay really patient and I knew that I could take advantage of the front nine.

I managed to get a couple eagles in there, which I was very happy about.

Q. Take me through that span of three holes there. Eagle, birdie, eagle. What was working so well for you?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, I don't normally write down two, two, three on the scorecard. They moved us up and I had a drivable par-4 and had a little chip short right of the green. Chipped in, so that was great.

Then the 14th hole had a pitching wedge. Again, short hole, kind of birdieable, and birdied that. To like five foot I hit that.

Next hole, reachable par-5. Hit driver in the fairway and hit driver to five foot.

So they were really good kind of eagles and really got my round going, because I was 1-under at that point. I was just really happy to keep it going on the back nine because the wind got up quite a bit and it was tougher.

Managed to get a couple birdies coming in.

Q. You had the birdie on 9. When you made the turn how were you feeling about your game?

GEORGIA HALL: I was like 7-under after 9. I was like, wow, I've never had this before. I was just trying to forget about my previous holes and take each shot at a time and managed to birdie 11. It's been quite nice to me so far this week. Just kept going with that.

Q. I have had to do extensive research, but you've never had a 29, nine hole on the LPGA Tour. Is that one of the most memorable nine holes you've had in a while?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, for sure. I think I was even 6-under after 7, which was crazy. Like I said, just had to kind of forget about the previous holes and really stay focused otherwise I could have just like parred in.

I just want to try and beat my personal record which was 9-under. Managed to tie that, but very happy with today.

Q. Just being able to have the round that you did today, when you notch those two more birdies on the back nine, what was going through your head?

GEORGIA HALL: Just trying to shoot as low as possible because I know, yeah, the leaders are maybe nine hole behind me and there is a lot of golf left to play. So just trying to get as far up as I could to allow myself a little buffer for tomorrow and try and be as close as possible to whoever is leading and give myself a chance at winning again.

Q. How much confidence does a round like this do heading into tomorrow?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, I mean, I've been playing well pretty much all year. Really kind of gave me a lot of confidence last week. Although I lost in the playoff, I hit some really good shots and long game was really solid today.

So, just really pleased where I'm playing and just trying to keep it going, yeah.

Q. Is this one of probably, like I said, for the nine holes, is this definitely one of your most memorable rounds in a bit?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, since Portland, I think since my 9-under, this is going to top it. Also the greens are very tricky, so it kind of feels like 12-under really.

Q. You talked about taking it one shot at time to0, eliminating the first nine holes and playing the back nine. Is that something you do often or was that a change you had to make when you're on a hot start like this?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, it's what I do all the time and it really helps me actually to stay very present and to keep going even lower.

Even when I birdie kind of the first three holes in the tournament, I try and forget and carry on because it's in the past, and the same as if I hit a bad shot.

I'm very happy I done that and hopefully leaves me in good position for tomorrow.

Q. Quite a bit of time before tomorrow's tee time. How will you utilize the afternoon to rest and take advantage of the time you have?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, it's been quite full on for me the last couple weeks. Yeah, late Sunday last week and it -- it's very mentally tough out there. You have to think a lot because there is a lot of the spin you can put on the ball.

So I think just really take this afternoon and get away from like thinking about golf and be fresh for tomorrow. I think that's my priority.

Q. It has been a lot. How do you handle what has been going on the last few weeks as well as the playoff last week? What do you to calm down your mind and calm yourself down?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, just conserve my energy off the golf course is very important for me. Just to look around the shops, go out for dinner, things like that that are really enjoyable. Got a pedicure couple days ago. Just doing normal things really just keeps me calm, and then I get to the golf course and focus on what I need to do.
