Carlota Ciganda

Los Angeles, California, USA

Palos Verdes Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Carlota Ciganda after her third round here at the DIO Implant LA Open, and an incredible round. Just broke the tournament scoring record. How does that feel for you?

CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yeah, obviously feels amazing. Had a great day out there. Started playing very good. Hitting being great shots. I think the front nine, if you start making a few birdies there is a lot of the wedges, and they put No. 5 up so I hit it almost on the green.

Two-putted on 7 for birdie, so I had five birdies in a row on the front. Birdied 9 as well, so I shot 6-under.

Then the back I hit a couple shots left but really good up and downs. Then great finish. Three birdies in the last four holes, four, five holes, so very happy.

Q. At what point does it start getting funny, all these birdies you make in a row? What goes through your mind when you're starting to put together a string of birdies?

CARLOTA CIGANDA: To be honest I was pretty calm out there. I've been playing pretty good the last few tournaments, so I was just telling myself just be patient out there, good swings.

I've been working really hard with my coach the last couple weeks that he's been here with me. I knew it was going to come. My putting was so-so, but today I made some really great putts and very happy with how I played.

Q. What would you say was like just the highlight of the day today and the best part of your game?

CARLOTA CIGANDA: I mean, the front nine I hit really good wedges very close, and obviously making those putts were key.

Then the back nine, yeah, just staying focused, staying in the present, and, yeah, finishing really good with the birdie on 17 and good par on 18.

So today everything was very solid.

Q. Last question: I know you won on this course before back in college. Any memories of that come back for you this week?

CARLOTA CIGANDA: Yes, it's a place that I like because obviously I played in college and I had great memories. I'm staying with Karen, which is the host we used to have for the tournament. She used to host us for the tournament and always great memories.

I do like the place. I love the course, the landscape. It's really nice and similar to Spain.

Yeah, great memories, and I'm excited to be out there and try to shoot a low one again.
