Quick Quotes

Q. I know only two birdies on the card to go bogey-free on the second day here at PV. Just take me through what was working well in the second round.

MEGAN KHANG: Yeah, I mean, our whole group started off birdie-birdie; Hinako started birdie-birdie as well. I was playing with her and I think she nearly made seven birdies out there.

For me, Jack and I were like, they're out there. Just got to get the ball to the hole. I think that was the struggle today.

Hit a lot of quality shots. Just wasn't able to capitalize. Made some really good par saves, so just going to take the positives from that.

Q. Take me through some of those memorable par saves that you think helped keep this round going.

MEGAN KHANG: Definitely on my last hole I kind of pulled my second shot, so I was at the back left portion of the green to a front right pin, and I told myself, I was like, oh, this is going to be a fast putt, and I hammered it. I had maybe like 15, 20 feet for par.

You know, it's kind of the putts you want to make under pressure, and being bogey-free up to that point, knowing that this is for par, it was nice to sneak one in there at the last second, sink a nice little par.

Q. I know after this you're going to be saying you want to work a little bit on the putting there. What will you be working on? I know you were talking about speed putting. You like the line or are you just waiting?

MEGAN KHANG: For me today it was just like I was lining the balls up really well. Just leaving it a foot short in the heart, just kind of breaks your heart a little.

So just going to try to get a feel of the greens a little better and really let the putter release down the line and not be so, I guess, tense.

Q. Do you like this golf course? Do you like the challenges and the quirks of it all?

MEGAN KHANG: Do I like this golf course? I think it is...

Q. Is it more of a challenge for you? Do you like the challenge of it?

MEGAN KHANG: I like the challenge of it. This course definitely, some of its placement, they have some tee shots where you can't be in the left side of the fairway or you're going to have a shape a shot in.

You have the undulation and the elevation of the greens, and so I think that plays a huge part. And I like the fact that you have to kind of get creative out here with certain shots. My dad always jokes that I like to play quote-unquote harder golf courses, but it's nice to kind of embrace a challenge.

I mean, hopefully this course likes me back next couple days. I'm going to say I like it and kind of I want to embrace it a lot more.

Q. The reason also I asked is I felt like last year when we were here at the PV Championship I talked to you after every single round. There was something about every round, that this consistency. Do you remember your performances from last year here?

MEGAN KHANG: No, I definitely do. I mean, I played a practice round with Nelly and Nelly hadn't played last year and she was asking me everything about the course. I was like, I don't remember. She was like, you played well here. I was like, yeah, but things change. Course is playing different.

And then I get out there and I'm like, okay, there is some sort of like reassurance that I have played well out here and I am capable of it.

For me it's nice to know I do have some good memories out here.

Q. What is it about the challenge of this course that you think your dad says you take advantage of? When your dad says you like these harder courses, why is that?

MEGAN KHANG: Honestly my dad just says that because he thinks I focus more. I would like to think that I focus all the time, but I think there is some truth behind it where like if it is a challenging golf course you tend to put a little more focus behind it, and that's also what I'm working on.

Q. What will you take from the first two days?

MEGAN KHANG: Birdies are out there, and just keep giving yourself chances. Greens are tricky, so can't be too frustrated out there.

You know, just kind of take it as it is and just have some fun.
