AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

March 28, 2023

Latanna Stone

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. What did you see? Did it look very familiar out there today?

LATANNA STONE: Of course, yeah. It's a little wet out there, but it's a nice shape still. Greens are firm. It's going to play tough with it being wet, but I think it will be a great challenge.

Q. You played last weekend first time in a month for the team after you played the three tournaments in a row in February. How much did it help to just get back out on the course in competition before this event?

LATANNA STONE: Yeah, I always love playing a tournament before this one just to kind of prepare. The greens were almost as firm, but not quite as firm as Champions Retreat. I think it was great practice.

Q. What's the key out here to being successful?

LATANNA STONE: I think I said this last year, but fairways and greens. Keeping it simple, and hopefully we'll be able to make some more birdies this year.

Q. And Rowdy back again?

LATANNA STONE: He is. Yes, Rowdy's back on the bag again.

Q. So after coming so close last year, how hungry have you been to get back here and have another chance?

LATANNA STONE: I've been really excited to get back out here. I think it's going to be a little different since I kind of know the course a little more. Like I said, it's a little wet out there. So it might be a little tough.

But I think it's going to be a good challenge.

Q. What was your biggest takeaway or learning experience from last year?

LATANNA STONE: That not everything goes your way even though how hard you work. But I think it showed me that to be a good loser -- to be a great winner, you have to be a really good loser. Sorry. Mixed that up. (Laughter).

Learned that from my coach, so shout out to Garrett.

Q. Explain what you mean by that.

LATANNA STONE: Just taking your losses the right way and learning from them, and then you can have your wins be greater in that sort of way. I don't really know how to explain it, but it's a good quote, I think.

Q. It is. It's a Twitter worthy one.

LATANNA STONE: Right? He said that, and I was like okay. It's hard to put into words.

Q. How much do you and Ingrid talk about this event?

LATANNA STONE: We don't talk about it as much as you think. I think we talk about it once it gets close, like in that year. We got our invites and secured our spot and we're ready to go.

We usually talk about travel information, like, oh, are we going to fly back home together? What are you wearing? Just important stuff.

Q. Do you guys live together still?

LATANNA STONE: No. I'm moving back in with her, though.

Q. Can't get rid of her, huh?

(Laughter).

LATANNA STONE: Yeah.

Q. What does your bracelet mean?

LATANNA STONE: This means He would love first.

I got it from Ivy Shepherd. She was handing them out to us at Clemson.

Q. Has Carla asked any advice of you two regarding this? Since it's her first time.

LATANNA STONE: She's not asked anything about the course, but she just asked about travel and stuff. It's a lot of things to know. Lots of questions to -- I mean, for the first timers, it's really intimidating coming here because there's a lot of fun things and a lot of important things to know with that aspect.

But she hasn't asked much about the course at all really.

Q. She just wants to know what you're wearing, right?

LATANNA STONE: Pretty much. Like what are you wearing? Are you wearing your uniform stuff or no?
