Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Solheim Cup captain Stacy Lewis. Atta way to finish off the week. Four rounds in the 60s this week. What did you see from your game? Probably pretty happy with it.

STACY LEWIS: Yeah, really excited. The last eight months haven't been very happy on the golf course, and just to put four rounds together, and was close every day to shooting something really low.

For the most part, the rounds were clean and easy and stress-free golf, so I'm excited. Wish we were going to Palm Springs next week, but we'll keep on it next week in LA.

Q. You told me the first day or maybe the second day there was room for improvement. Did you improve you feel like this week?

STACY LEWIS: Yeah, I felt like ball striking got better probably every day. Bunch of putts just right on the edge, right around the hole. Yeah, I mean, it was really, really solid week.

Q. What hit different maybe? Was it ball striking that clicked or putting clicked or something that clicked?

STACY LEWIS: Ball striking. The combination of getting some new irons, longer irons getting up in the air, easier to hit, and things working on with my golf swing starting to come together.

Q. Motivated at all by playing with some of the -- I don't want to say kids -- but playing with some of the kids, potential rookies. And I got to ask the question, is a playing captain in your future?

STACY LEWIS: I don't know. We need a few more weeks like this to even get into that conversation.

Yeah, I wouldn't say it's not possible. I think it's possible, but I hope there are 12 playing better than me, and our team is going to be in a really good spot if that's the case.

Q. And just chat a little bit about playing with some of those potential rookies this week. Saw a lot of Allisen Corpuz, a lot of some -- hopefully going to be on your team later this year.

STACY LEWIS: Yeah, I mean, just the time you can be around them, seeing them in player dining, talking to them warming up, just that a little bit of interaction goes a long way with them feeling more comfortable for that week so everything is not so new, right?

Solheim Cup is a crazy week, and if you throw a brand new face in front of them telling them what to do, that's really hard. So just trying to be around them as much as I can and be there when they have questions and just making sure they're always thinking about it.

Q. Y9ou got Barbasol on your collar, a ribbon on your hat. I know we lost Tom Murray this week. Long time friend, support of the tour. To play this well maybe -- I don't know if you would want to dedicate that to him and his family. How good does it feel to be able to play under these circumstances?

STACY LEWIS: Yeah, it was a rough start to the week. Tom has been a sponsor of mine for a long time but he's a friend first and foremost.

He sponsored me and all the other girls because he loves golf and he believed in our tour and he liked just being able to play golf with us and hang out.

Great family man. Just kind of watching him, seeing his kids grow up over the years, it makes you see what you want your kids to be like.

And so just a sad day, but we can continue to honor him going forward by the way we play and the way we represent our tour, then that's all we can do.
