WOMEN'S AMATEUR ASIA-PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP

March 10, 2023

Sophie Han

Singapore

Quick Quotes

Q. Another solid round for you today. Can you talk us through how it went for you?

SOPHIE HAN: I think everything started from the three birdies in a row on the front nine. So like from hole 7, I made the first birdie putt and everything seemed so easy after the birdie. I just kept the momentum on and just kept fighting and kept attacking the pin and everything just, yeah, started well. I made pars and, yeah, it was all good.

Q. You had three birdies on the back three. So good way to finish today.

SOPHIE HAN: Yeah, I think I made some mistakes on the back nine. So like I made three bogeys and four birdies. The first, I think to be honest, that television stuff kind of have some influence on me, so, yeah, that's why I didn't make the putt on hole 10.

But, yeah, I think I'm pretty proud of myself because I kept the momentum. I just kept everything going. I just ignored it and just tried to do my best.

Q. Any strategy going into the weekend?

SOPHIE HAN: No. I just work on myself and just work on, only focus on the process, not the result.

Q. I wanted to talk to you about Taichi. So in 2021, in Abu Dhabi he came second, came so close to taking title in the men's equivalent. Does that inspire you for the women's as well, doing so well for Hong Kong?

SOPHIE HAN: I think, yeah, it did. It really had some influence on me. But I don't really know him because we're not really the same, we're not playing together much. So I don't really know much about him. But it definitely inspired me and I watched the last, the last day in Abu Dhabi, and it was really impressive. I definitely want to get a title for Hong Kong for the future, yeah.

Q. I think this is the best performance for Hong Kong so far in the women's, so hopefully you can come into the weekend strong and keep that going.

SOPHIE HAN: Yeah, I will try my best. I will do my best.

Q. Do you feel confident?

SOPHIE HAN: Yeah, pretty confident. It's like I think because I've been working on many stuff with my coach last month, and I think this result it's actually really predictable for me and for my coach. It's actually a really good, it's showing us that we are doing the right thing and we are working on, we're going to the right road, so we're on the right roadway to achieving the highest finish position, I think, yeah.
