MOUNTAIN WEST WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

March 5, 2023

Jaime White

Amiee Book

Amaya West

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Thomas & Mack Center

Fresno State Bulldogs

Postgame Press Conference

Nevada 65, Fresno State 53

THE MODERATOR: For Fresno State, the student-athletes are Amiee Book and Amaya West. We'll start with coach and the opening remarks.

JAIME WHITE: Obviously, had a chance to win at the end there in regulation, and I thought our kids played hard. Not perfect, you know. Had a few too many turnovers early. Rebounded okay. I thought we rebounded okay with them. Let them score inside the paint a little bit too much, but you know, really just a couple of free-throws away from finishing it off.

Thought we had a good lead there going into the last two minutes and just, you know, kind of frustrating and similar to the way a lot of games went in our season.

So proud of these two seniors. You know, main players for us that we've relied on throughout the year. You know, I thought we put it all out there. As a coach, that's really all you can ask.

THE MODERATOR: We'll take questions for the student-athletes.

Q. What is it to play a team the third team, your preparation going in and seeing this team for the third time this year?

AIMEE BOOK: Yeah, playing them fir the third time you know what players they have, what the tendencies are, so it's kind of just who come out on that day, who has gone over the scout, and who executes on the night.

AMAYA WEST: Yeah, I would have to agree with that. And then, like she said, we know what they're going to do. We know what they're going to run at this point. It's just a matter of executing well and then having better offense than them and then being able to stop them.

THE MODERATOR: Then the minutes you've played, Amaya, 44 minutes and 20 seconds. That's almost a complete game with a five-minute overtime.

AMAYA WEST: Yeah.

THE MODERATOR: You talk about the energy level through that whole game.

AMAYA WEST: I don't know. I've kind of been doing that in conference, so I'm not really, like -- I feel like I'm pretty used to it. My body is a little broken down, but at the end of the day I want to win, so I'm going to stay on the court for as long as I can until someone is dragging me off (laughing).

THE MODERATOR: Any questions for the student-athletes? Ladies, I'll go ahead and release you and leave coach here for remaining questions.

Any questions for the coach?

JAIME WHITE: I'm released too.
