ARNOLD PALMER INVITATIONAL

March 3, 2023

Taylor Montgomery

Bay Hill, Florida, USA

Bay Hill Club and Lodge

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you characterize your round today?

TAYLOR MONTGOMERY: Just trying my best. I mean, golf is hard. The last two weeks, any time -- like that quote from Max Homa is so true. I mean, sometimes you feel like you got it and never can lose it and then sometimes you feel like you just can't find it.

Q. The wind picked up at what point during your round?

TAYLOR MONTGOMERY: I would say probably on right around 17, 18 -- well I guess my 8th or 9th hole. Then it really picked up on 1 and 2. It was very tough out there.

Q. What's the toughest part about playing in conditions like this?

TAYLOR MONTGOMERY: Just the gusty winds. Say you want to hit it 130. It's constantly changing, 135, 125. Like, you just got to pick a number and hit it and whatever happens, happens. That's what makes the wind so tough.

Q. What are the toughest tee shots here in this wind?

TAYLOR MONTGOMERY: I think number 8 and 9 are definitely very tough. Just because they're going to be playing long and you need to have, you need to be in the fairway if you're going to get to the green, really. I mean, unless you get a lucky lie out of the rough. But, yeah, it's playing really hard.

Q. Did your time in Las Vegas in windy days help you at all? Any comfort level in conditions like this?

TAYLOR MONTGOMERY: It's funny you say that, because I've been playing with my Australian friend back home and it's been nasty in Vegas. It's been like 50 degrees, rainy, windy. Him and I were out there just practicing and playing. Yesterday he's like, Oh, you can't play when it's perfect outside, but you can play when it's nasty. And I guess it showed today.

Q. What's the mental challenge like out there?

TAYLOR MONTGOMERY: I think it helped me a little bit. Because you know you have to get up-and-down out there, no matter how good you hit it. Whereas, yesterday you could ball strike it a little better. But today you know you're going to have chip shots and you're going to have to make some 5-, 10-footers and I was able to do that.
