ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

March 1, 2023

Nell Fortner

Bianca Jackson

Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Postgame Press Conference

Boston College 62, Georgia Tech 57

NELL FORTNER: I thought we just -- it's happened to us many times this season where we just kind of dig ourselves in a hole a little bit, and it's just hard to come back from. But was really proud of the effort in the fourth quarter. I thought we really -- we fought hard. We did some really good things, and we just were in a little bit too big of a hole to get ourselves out of against a team that's as big and aggressive as Boston College is.

But I was really proud. I thought Bianca just really played a really good game and used her experience to help us have an opportunity to win in the end.

Q. Nell, did you feel like you were maybe a play away?

NELL FORTNER: Absolutely, and I thought we were going to be able to -- I really felt like we were going to get that thing tied up, and then it's anybody's ball game, but it didn't drop that way.

Again, I'm super proud of how we fought back, and I thought that says a lot for those kids and how they continued to believe and really put their best foot forward. I just wish we could have done it a little sooner in the game.

Q. Bianca, when you start to get on a roll there in the fourth quarter, you feel like you got a little something going, did you feel like a switch came on for you there?

BIANCA JACKSON: Not necessarily a switch, just being more aggressive, trying to find ways to get open and get shots up because I knew we needed to catch a little momentum. But just shout out to my teammates for putting me in positions to make shots.

Q. At the end of the third, what did you say to the girls to make them come out in the fourth quarter like that?

NELL FORTNER: Well, I mean, look, we had 10 minutes left in the season, and so it's just a matter of just fighting to win the game. Then talking about what we needed to do to do that. I thought Tonie Morgan did a good job. We were trying to run her off of screens to open up the floor a little bit more for her and her teammates, and I thought she did a good job handling that pressure she was getting.

Sometimes the zone can make you very stagnant, but I thought Tonie did a good job handling some of that pressure tonight.
