LIV GOLF MAYAKOBA

February 26, 2023

Peter Uihlein

Mayakoba, Mexico

El CamaleĆ³n Golf Course

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you describe your round?

PETER UIHLEIN: I mean, other than one -- technically three bad swings on one hole, it was good. I mean, I hit a bad drive on 3, but other than that, for the most part, that was my -- it was a good bogey. It really was a great bogey. I mean, I lost one ball all week. I mean, other than that one hole.

Just a tough tee shot. It's an awkward looking tee shot because I like to -- that shot I try to hit, I try to hit it like a low cut, and it's just a funny looking tee shot for me, and with left-to-right wind, it's very hard.

There's still some good stuff to work on, which I've got to get comfortable moving it right to left, which I do on 9 kind of hitting like a high draw holding it up against the wind and I do a good job, but on holes like that I just need to be better.

All in all a good week. Just tried not to let the team down this week, first event. But yeah, it was solid.

Q. On 12 after the tee shot, could you have gone back to the tee --

PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, I had no intentions of that. I was like, I'm going to take my 7. Maybe if I have a putt at 6, great, but I'm going to take my 7 and get out of there. I had zero intentions of hitting that shot again.

Q. Even with all the roller coaster ride, the fact that you were able to carve out what you did out of this round, that's impressive.

PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, I holed some nice putts on 15 and 16, so those are always bonuses to see go in, which was nice. But yeah, other than that, it was a fairly solid day for the most part. I think I made five birdies and an eagle. Charles won it. It wasn't like I blew it out there, Charles won it. Hats off, it was unbelievable playing.

Q. He told me yesterday this course is 18 birdieable holes and 18 hard holes. It looked like he was playing maybe a different course than you and Taylor.

PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, me and Talor, it was a scrap fest out there for me and him. Yeah, I don't know what Charles did statistically, but I feel like -- I played with him the first day, and I feel like he hit 16 or 17 greens and 12 or 13 fairways. It felt like it was more of the same today. He turned at 6 and missed a pretty short one on 4, so he theoretically could have been one better, so it was pretty impressive. He won it on the front. He did a heck of a job. Obviously I didn't really put any pressure on him until -- I didn't put any pressure on him whatsoever.

Yeah, no, he didn't have to kind of sweat 12, 13, 14, which are probably -- although 13 is not that difficult, it's still you've got to hit it in between the trees. Same on 14.

Yeah, I almost felt like he could have -- I don't want to say the word cruise, but there wasn't any pressure on him, and he did exactly what he needed to do, and he executed. He's a worthy champion.

Q. Fired up about Tucson?

PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, I've never been there. Watched it, I think, on the Match Play. I heard it's an interesting golf course. Should be fun.
