Tom Kim

TPC Scottsdale

Quick Quotes

Q. Pretty steady round out there. What were the challenges this morning with the cold morning and then this afternoon when the wind laid down?

TOM KIM: Yeah, it was really cold in the morning. Greens were firm. Just freezing out there. But I feel like I managed it well. Finished even par with especially the way I was playing, even with the second round, just not feeling a hundred percent over the ball. But I feel like on the back nine I really found something that kind of clicked well. Nice to always finish with a birdie.

Q. What weren't you feeling a hundred percent?

TOM KIM: Just mechanically not really a hundred percent there. Kind of just not on the fairways as much as I am normally. Stats-wise as well. But I feel like I'm kind of getting in a groove and finding something during the tournament. It's definitely a way better ball-striking day than yesterday. So it's kind of improving.

Q. While you were out there Tiger announced he's going to play next week at Riviera. Your face lights up at that knowledge. Just your reaction to that.

TOM KIM: I think it's great for the game. As a player, even me a big fan of Tiger, it's going to be awesome for him to be in the field. Hopefully I can kind of work myself up and kind of hopefully play with him if I get the chance.

Q. Is this going to be the first event you played in at the same event?

TOM KIM: No, I played a few events that he's been in there, but never been near where he was teeing off.

Q. This is your first start here, right? Imagine it's a little different atmosphere than the tournaments you were playing 12 months ago at this time.

TOM KIM: I guess the closest would be the Presidents Cup. It's kind of fun when the crowd's kind of getting you going. It's better than the quiet claps. You got roars and you got a lot of people who have some alcohol in 'em. So it's cool.

Q. Did they think of a nickname for you? What were they chirping at you?

TOM KIM: I was kind of going about my business, wasn't really paying attention.
