PIF SAUDI INTERNATIONAL POWERED BY SOFTBANK INVESTMENT ADVISERS

February 4, 2023

Abraham Ancer

King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia

Royal Greens Golf and Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Cameron Young came out guns blazing with great ball striking and a fast start, indicating you need to step on the gas pedal full throttle. You played a brilliant round today. Five birdies once again. Second round this week without any bogeys. Your thoughts on your round?

ABRAHAM ANCER: Yeah, another very solid round. Happy with no dropped shots. That's always my goal. On a golf course like this where it's blowing pretty good, I'm really, really happy.

My ball striking has definitely been on, and I've been rolling it really nice all week. Yeah, extremely happy. Not really focused on what everybody else is doing. Just trying to play the same game I've been playing the past three days.

Q. You mentioned earlier about last week in Dubai you wanted to check where your game was at. Were you surprised to be in this position, or was it a situation where you just needed tournament reps and you knew your game was pretty good?

ABRAHAM ANCER: Back home, I've been practicing quite bit leading up to Dubai, and I felt really good back home. Then on the way over here, it always takes a little bit of time to get adjusted to the time change and all that stuff. And definitely tournament golf is different than just playing back home.

So I played worse than I was expecting on my first round, and then I played nicely in my second round, missed the cut by one. But I knew I was in a good spot, and I felt like a couple things were clicking towards the end of the round there.

So just brought that over here. Not surprised, just playing my game. It's nice to see my name up there. Can't really focus on that. Just got to do it again.

Q. You mentioned you can't worry about what anyone else is doing out there. You hear it all the time, don't care about the result, take care of what you can control. What does Abraham Ancer need to take control of tomorrow?

ABRAHAM ANCER: Just focus on the shot I have in front of me. I can't control the next one or the previous one. Just focus on my routine, focus on my shot that I have in front of me, and that's about it.

Q. Well played today. All the best tomorrow.

ABRAHAM ANCER: Thank you. Appreciate it.
