AUSTRALIAN OPEN

January 19, 2023

Alexander Zverez

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Press Conference

M. MMOH/A. Zverev

6-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please go ahead.

Q. How is it going?

ALEXANDER ZVEREV: How is it going? I think you can answer that.

Q. Yeah. So what were your goals coming into this tournament and, you know, what did you want to accomplish? How do you think you measured up to him, you know, given what you've gone through the last seven months?

ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I think I've answered that a lot. I didn't have any expectations. I didn't have any goals, and it was a good test for me. I played a five-setter, and I know where I am physically. That's about it.

I guess I still have a long way back to where I was.

Q. You said you have a long way back to where you were. Where do you think you are physically? 80%? 90%? 100%?

ALEXANDER ZVEREV: My foot is healthy, but I'm not at the physical level that I was. I'm not as fast. Definitely my conditioning is not as good as it was. So I think I still have a long way to go to there.

Q. Just last question. But was there enough that you felt out here the last couple of weeks to reaffirm your belief that you're going to get there?

ALEXANDER ZVEREV: Yeah, I think the last weeks I was getting better and better, and that is something very positive for me.
