ADELAIDE INTERNATIONAL

January 1, 2023

Elena Rybakina

Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Elena, welcome back to Adelaide. Obviously you had a very good result here last year. Can you talk us through your preparations for this season.

ELENA RYBAKINA: Well, yeah, I played really well last year, so I'm super happy to be back in Adelaide. I had really good preseason, so I'm ready, and let's see how it's going to go this year, this week.

Q. What are your expectations going into not only this tournament but also the entire Australian swing?

ELENA RYBAKINA: Every tournament I play, of course I want to win. The motivation is here. I just want to perform well.

I know that first weeks might be still tough since it's just after preseason. Yeah, we'll see how it goes this week. Of course the goal is Australian Open, and hopefully I'm going to get a lot of matches and good confidence for Melbourne.

Q. You have a very tough first-round opponent against the Australian Open finalist, Danielle Collins, from last year. Talk us through your thoughts about going into that match.

ELENA RYBAKINA: Yeah, for sure it's going to be not an easy match, really tough opening for the first round. As I said, we'll see how it's going to go because Danielle, she played really well last year and the whole season in Australia, I think.

We know each other well, so I'll just try to do my best, and we'll see how it's going to go.
