THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. Filippo, no doubt your whole team is extremely upset and disappointed. Can I ask, what was the decision behind changing the doubles combination?

CAPTAIN VOLANDRI: Yeah, yeah, of course we are disappointed it has to be like that. Simone today couldn't play because of injury today. So yesterday we kept on the box, and yesterday I asked Matteo to try to be ready for today in case we had to play the doubles.

He decide to try to be there, and he practiced twice yesterday. He practiced alone this morning and he was ready. Yeah, I'm really proud of any member of the team, because when I ask them to try to do something, they always do. That's why I'm really proud of them.

Q. For Lorenzo Sonego, it's been quite an event. Do you think this has maybe put him up to another level that this sort of confidence is really going to help him in 2023?

CAPTAIN VOLANDRI: All the players has to be ready once they have been called. Thanks God that I have a large team and I can make decisions.

It's because of them, because they are great players, so they put me in a way to make decisions. They all stay in the same level, so I just have to choose who can be the player who goes on court and if they are available, but I always find they are ready.

Q. Matteo, you have been a great support to the team all week. You obviously came back, had time off. Could you maybe talk about the match today?

MATTEO BERRETTINI: Yeah, I mean, I tried my best. I think you could see when they were playing how much I care about this competition, how much I care about this team, and that's why, when the captain told me to try to be ready, I gave my best. I gave my best during the match, as well.

Obviously I wasn't at my best level. I didn't expect that. I just gave my heart. I guess it wasn't enough. It's really painful, but, I mean, I tried with everything I had.

Q. Fabio, it was still a very close match today. You were up a break in both sets. Can I have your thoughts on today's match?

FABIO FOGNINI: They say everythings already. I mean, I feel really sad in the moment what I have to say. We have our shots, but, you know, doubles is lost 7-6, 7-5, and quite a few points at the end of the match, we know doubles, especially on this surface, that gonna be like this.

I don't know. I'm serious, I don't know what to say, because I'm sad. I don't know how many ties in Davis Cup I'm gonna play because I'm almost 36. But you know how I like to play this competition. You know how I always play with what I have. If it's 10, I give 10. If 100, I give 100.

Yeah, today I go home very disappointed.
