WOMEN'S AMATEUR ASIA-PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP

November 2, 2022

Pratima Sherpa

Pattaya, Thailand

Quick Quotes

Q. Welcome to the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific championship.

PRATIMA SHERPA: Thank you so much.

Q. This is the first time anyone from Nepal has played in this championship. Can you talk about how that feels?

PRATIMA SHERPA: It feels great. Just seeing the Nepali flag here. Yesterday I had goose bumps, like oh, my God, finally my country Nepal is here. And representing that, I feel very proud of myself.

Thank you so much for doing this, for organizing it and inviting us here.

Q. How are you feeling coming into this week?

PRATIMA SHERPA: I feel really good. I feel really, really excited. I came from the U.S., all the way from there to here. Jet lag is still here, but I'm really, really excited to play here tomorrow.

Q. How are you finding the course?

PRATIMA SHERPA: I really, really love the course because I think it's definitely scorable. Sometimes maybe the wind could be a little bit challenging, but other than that, the course is beautiful, and it's amazing.

Q. Is it very different to courses you play back at home?

PRATIMA SHERPA: Back home, yes, with the greens, the greens are so nice. It's soft, and grasses are really nice. But back home, it's -- I don't want to say like -- it's totally different compared to home.

Q. And what are your expectations for this week?

PRATIMA SHERPA: My expectation would be just playing my game and also enjoying this beautiful course. So, I just want to do my best.

Q. I understand you've played with Tiger Woods. Can you talk us through that? How was that experience?

PRATIMA SHERPA: It's been a long time, but it still feels like a dream whenever I talk about this. I'm like, oh, my God, I played with Tiger Woods. It was great. It was in 2018, and I was in Florida. We went to the range, and then he gave me some tips. It was great -- not only for me, but for my whole country, it was a big achievement. Now Tiger knows that we also have players in Nepal. So it was great.
