MLB WORLD SERIES: PHILLIES VS ASTROS

October 31, 2022

Ranger Suarez

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Citizens Bank Park

Philadelphia Phillies

Pregame 3 Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: We'll get started with Ranger.

Q. (Question in Spanish.)

RANGER SUÁREZ: Ever since I was a kid, it's been a dream of mine, so I'm just trying to go out there and do my best.

Q. What do you think makes your arm so durable and so resilient? They have asked you to do a lot of different things over the last few years. Why are you able to do that? Why is your arm able to do that?

RANGER SUÁREZ: I really think the key of it has been all the preparation that I've done in the training room. The trainers have been great to me. And also all the work that I do in the gym. Like, that has been really good for me.

Q. You have maintained this sense of calm about you throughout the entire postseason. You always have a smile on your face. You always seem very relaxed. How do you do that in these situations, these pressure situations, especially when you know you're about to start in a World Series game?

RANGER SUÁREZ: I've always been like that. Ever since I was a kid I've been like that. I just try to go out there and have fun. That's really what I try to do when I go play baseball.

Q. You had a start in Houston at the end of the regular season that was a little rough. Do you take anything away from that, or how does that inform your preparation?

RANGER SUÁREZ: Yeah, it was definitely a bad start for me. I really think that I wasn't prepared at all for that start. You know, like, we're human beings too. I had a bad day. Anyone can have a bad day. But looking forward, I'm going to try to be more focused. I'm going to try to attack the strike zone more. I'm going to be locked in.

Q. (Question in Spanish.)

RANGER SUÁREZ: My love for baseball started in Venezuela. Everyone in my family loves baseball, so that helped me a lot.

Q. (Question in Spanish.)

RANGER SUÁREZ: Something I learned a lot from my last start against the Astros back during the regular season was that against this team I really have to locate my pitches. That's a big factor there. That's going to determine a lot of my game tomorrow. And I don't want to fall into deep counts.

Q. Have they given you any idea if you would start tomorrow regardless if there's a rainout tonight?

RANGER SUÁREZ: No. No one has said anything to me yet, but I'm focused on pitching tomorrow.
