Lydia Ko

Busan, South Korea

LPGA International Busan

Quick Quotes

Q. Lydia Ko, 6-under 66, Lydia Ko doing Lydia Ko things on moving day. Great round; got off to a hot start. Walk me through your day.

LYDIA KO: Yeah, I birdied the first two holes like I did on the first day, so I really wanted to not make a bogey on 3 and kind of repeat the same mistake that I had on Thursday. But yeah, I got off to a really good start. I think I played overall really consistently.

There were a few birdie putts that could have dropped that didn't, but I think I just never got myself too out of position. I think the back nine, it felt almost a little boring because I just kept two-putting for par, but I think out here you can't get frustrated with that, and I think I did that well.

Obviously really nice to finish off with a birdie on the last.

Q. What did you find today that maybe you didn't see -- you said you corrected a mistake on 3. Were you just making less mistakes today?

LYDIA KO: I think so. I had a bogey-free round today. It definitely helps I think around a golf course like this where it is easily done, and I think some of my bogeys the last couple days, they weren't like bad shots. Just a couple three-putts here and there.

I think when it's a golf course that it can happen, I think you have to be really focused and make sure that your intention is there on every shot no matter how easy or how difficult it is. I'm hoping that I'll be able to kind of keep that same mindset for tomorrow.

Q. Speaking of tomorrow, in this position again. I'm not going to ask you about winning, but at this point, do you just kind of go for it, go out and just see how low you can go?

LYDIA KO: Yeah, I think it's a golf course clearly that -- like Atthaya shot 9-under on the first day. I totally did not see that around here. But it seems like there's always been a few low scores, so you hope that that's in your back pocket. I've just got to play my own game. The world's best are here. There are so many players within reach, and with golf, who knows how many shots behind you can be and you're still in position to be able to win.

I've just got to focus on my game, and I don't know what I'm going to finish at the end of today or how many shots behind, but it's just -- if I am confident and playing the best golf I can, and if somebody plays better than me, I can't do too much about that.

I think that's what happened in Dallas. I played good, but somebody -- like Charley and Janet just played better. I think that's the key at the end of the day is I just play the best golf I can and kind of see what happens at the end of the week.

Q. You played with Atthaya today, one teenage phenom to another. Do you see any similarities between where you were all those years ago and her now?

LYDIA KO: I mean, it's pretty crazy. I am never the oldest one in the group. I was the oldest one by a minimum of five years, five and six years today, which is pretty crazy to believe. The golf at that Atthaya has been played has been absolutely amazing, and I think she's going to run to be World No. 1.

Having been in that position, I think it's such a cool experience, and it seems like she's handling all the media or pressure really well. That just shows what kind of a world-class player she is. I really enjoyed playing with her today. I haven't played with her much, so I'm really looking forward to many of these rounds in our future.

Yeah, it's really cool and great for golf in Thailand, as well, and golf in Asia.
