ICC T20 WORLD CUP 2022

October 16, 2022

CP Rizwan

Geelong, Victoria, Australia

Kardinia Park

UAE

Post Match Media Conference

Netherlands 111/8, UAE 112/7

(In progress.)

CP RIZWAN: He did it well. He brought some big fishes. We thought he could make a difference, and he did really well. In his first match, he bowled some tight lines. He even brought a wicket today, so yeah, I thought, yeah, he did well

Q. Heading into the next two games, what did you learn about the wicket? What do you take forward?

CP RIZWAN: Yeah, batsman has to be really alert, mentally tuned, to be wrapped into the wicket. It's not that easy typical T20 wicket that you can just line up the bowler. There is always something for the bowler. The way we have seen the previous match where the Asia Cup champions, they got bowled out for hundred. So there's always some other bowler. I think in this tournament they will play a big role.

Q. Kashif, the decision to move up to No. 3 was a bit of a surprise. What was the thinking there?

CP RIZWAN: Yeah, we felt since we didn't lose much wicket in the powerplay, we thought he can invite some impetus in the middle overs because he's known for some big hitting. So he got a hit and a good sack, but couldn't carry on, but yeah, you can expect something like that in the coming matches also.

Q. CP, just wanted to ask you about how difficult and how challenging it was acclimatizing to the cold weather. You guys play much of your cricket in 40 degrees and 45 degrees so coming to about 10 degrees today, did that really -- how did it impact you guys, and does that kind of weather take a lot of getting used to?

CP RIZWAN: Yeah, I mean, it's different obviously from UAE where it's very hot, but having said that, we have been practicing here in Geelong, and we are trying to get used to it as much as possible. But having said that, it's really good conditions, especially for the bowlers. The bowlers are really enjoying it, the conditions. They are finding it quite nice I would say. They are not getting even tired.

I mean, I can't blame anything, but yeah, it's obviously different from the home conditions, but we are adapting to that.
