NL DIVISION SERIES: PHILLIES VS BRAVES

October 15, 2022

Raisel Iglesias

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Citizens Bank Park

Atlanta Braves

Pregame 4 Press Conference

Q. You've been really good for the Braves ever since they traded for you. What has been the key to your success?

RAISEL IGLESIAS: Yeah, first and foremost it's been an absolute pleasure to be a member of this team. I think the key to success has been just working, working in conjunction and being together with the guys in the bullpen.

I think when I got here, my numbers weren't where I wanted them to be, and weren't to the level or the standard that this bullpen has set up for the season. As soon as I got here, it's about working hard and continuing to work and just raising my level and my standard to match what this bullpen's already established. And I feel like this team and the bullpen has done a marvelous job all season long.

Q. What do you think sets this team apart and has allowed it to overcome adversity throughout this season?

RAISEL IGLESIAS: I think, firstly, just the way this team carries themselves and the way they compose themselves, I think that's a really big advantage.

Secondly, I think the postseason run and the World Series title that the team accomplished last season, I think that's been really beneficial and really helpful in the sense of giving this team, this roster a sense of confidence throughout the entire season.

Q. First of all, who is the AL MVP, Shohei, who you played with, or Judge?

RAISEL IGLESIAS: I think they've both had great years. And if I had to pick right now, it would be impossible to say. So honestly I think they both deserve it.

Q. What's your take on what happened there in Anaheim this season? You started off well, had a losing streak. Joe got fired. You got traded and eventually Arte said he's selling the team.

RAISEL IGLESIAS: Yeah, honestly, I think those are just things that happen, right? And primarily or firstly, you need to have all your star players healthy on a roster if you're hoping to have success in this league. And the second you have some of your star players start going down, things can unravel quickly and can lead to some of the unfortunate things that happen, whether it's firings or selling of a team, things like that. And so for a team that's going through that, that can be really frustrating.

Q. What was the demeanor like in the clubhouse this morning, just in general, the vibe arriving here today?

RAISEL IGLESIAS: The boys are motivated. The boys are motivated. They came in with a lot of energy. Us Latinos say, I think we're going to give it all and leave it out there. It's going to be a great game.

We're looking forward to playing our game, doing our thing out there and taking the series back to our place where we feel like we're invincible. And so, yeah, I think it's going to be a great game and we're hoping to take the series, take it back to our place, and God willing, move on.

Q. I don't know how much you knew about Max Fried before you got on this team, but if you knew anything, what were your impressions of him from afar?

RAISEL IGLESIAS: I didn't know much about him before joining this team. Obviously saw him pitch in the World Series. Great athlete. Great pitcher and hopefully he'll be able to kind of rejoin the roster and rejoin the team as himself, as we hopefully continue, God willing, this postseason run into the World Series, hopefully.
