NL DIVISION SERIES: PHILLIES VS BRAVES

October 13, 2022

Brandon Marsh

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Citizen's Bank Park

Philadelphia Phillies

Workout Day Press Conference

Q. Brandon, they've not named a Game 3 starter yet. I'm wondering how big of a deal is that to you guys as you prepare? Does it matter? Does it not matter? How much in terms of prep work, et cetera?

BRANDON MARSH: You know, we're just going to come in tomorrow and get with K Long on the hitting side and assess our game plan then. I think we're going to take advantage of today, rest our bodies so we can all come out ready for tomorrow.

Q. How good does it feel to finally be home?

BRANDON MARSH: It feels great. I don't think I've done laundry in a month. Just kidding. Feels good to be back at the Bank and play in front of our crowd tomorrow. It's been a long time. We're all looking forward to it. Super excited.

Q. Did you pack enough to not do laundry on the road?

BRANDON MARSH: I did.

Q. You had a historically long road trip. Would you say that it kind of brought you closer in the way you're forced to spend all this time together more than you usually do on a typical road trip?

BRANDON MARSH: I'd say we were pretty close before the road trip. But definitely clinching, winning the wild card, just kept advancing together. The bond kept getting tighter and tighter.

And it's a very special group, super blessed to be a part of it. And it was a fun road trip but super glad to be back here. We're excited to play at home in front of all of our guys.

Q. Anything you guys do, any pregame routine, ritual. I know guys some play cards, poker, dominos -- anything you guys do in the clubhouse?

BRANDON MARSH: Listen to some good music. Get the vibes going. But I mean everyone has their own little thing. Nothing particular.

Q. It's been a long time since playoff baseball has been here in Philly. Have you spoken with anyone, maybe within the organization, or around the league about just what it's like here in Philadelphia when there's playoff baseball?

BRANDON MARSH: To be honest, not too too much. We're just taking it day-by-day. Not trying to look too far ahead. I've been warned it's going to get rowdy. I'm looking forward to it. I love a good atmosphere like that.

I know I can speak for all my teammates as well. We're all looking forward to it and we're excited for it to be loud.

Q. I saw your mom being interviewed on TV a day or so ago. What's it been like to sort of share this experience with your family?

BRANDON MARSH: It's awesome. My mom, my sister are my biggest supporters. I'm super, super glad that they're on this journey, not just with me but with the whole squad.

The Phillies have been really welcoming to me and my family, and I'm super thankful for that. And it's been a heck of a journey, a heck of a ride. And having my sister and my mom and all my friends by my side, it's just made it that much better.

Q. Have you been able to kind of process how crazy the last few months have been between getting traded and this extended run on the road and now you're back home?

BRANDON MARSH: It all happened so fast. It was kind of hard to process at the time, at the deadline. But I was being traded over to the Phils, I really didn't have much time to sit down and think because they were in a pennant race. It was kind of jump on, get with it and let's keep this train rolling.

So I'll have time to process it in the offseason. But I've enjoyed every bit of my time here. It's been a blessing, liked I've said before. And I'm thrilled to see what the future holds.

Q. Much was made in the pregame shows about the return of the small ball, teams bunting, getting guys over, that kind of thing. Have you changed anything in terms of your offensive approach from the time you clinched the playoff berth to what you've been doing now?

BRANDON MARSH: No. Maybe bunting a little bit more. But, no, it's just playing the game, giving what the other team's giving you. Just doing what you need to do in certain situations.

We had a talk before the St. Louis series. It's forget about your stats; it's all about the team. And everyone's pretty bought in, bought in a lot. And we're all playing for each other. And we just gotta keep that same mindset.

Q. You guys have been on the road, obviously. Outside of the things we see, the locker room celebrations, anything behind the scenes that's stood out to you, a moment or something you guys have done on the plane or bus or when the cameras aren't inside the locker room?

BRANDON MARSH: I don't think I can think of any specific moment. Just the last two celebrations we've had, I mean, they've been incredible. And we want more of that. So we're going to keep our heads down and keep working.

But the relationships and the bond that I have with these guys that I've created in such a short time, it's been great.

I've got a ton of brothers in the locker room that want this for me just as bad as I want it for them. And it's a pretty cool feeling to feel that from guys that you just met.

To answer your question, nothing in particular. Just kind of everything put together in general. It's been super fun.
