AL DIVISION SERIES: GUARDIANS VS YANKEES

October 12, 2022

Andrés Giménez

New York, New York, USA

Yankee Stadium

Cleveland Guardians

Workout Day Press Conference

Q. What has Victor Rodriguez meant to you the last two years and how has he helped you grow as a hitter?

ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ: I mean, it's impressive. It's impressive everything he's done with me, but he's been with me since day one, since I arrived in this organization. Maybe last year, there were not the results to show it. But this year is a little different. But I'm at a loss of words trying to thank him, how much he has helped me to be the player that I am right now.

Q. The approach you guys have taken offensively as a team during the regular season, is that harder to make work in the postseason when the pitching improves; you're facing a better quality of pitching, and to string four, five, six hits together and have a big inning and keep that rolling? In the first, I think you guys have scored four runs in the first three postseason games.

ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ: I mean, I think that's not going to change. That's part of the game. It's a matter of, also, like continue to know who you are and what are we doing as a group, but also understanding that all of that is combined with a little bit of luck. You know, if things don't work together, it's not going to happen.

But we are going to continue doing our best effort, playing our game and we are going to get the results.

Q. Over the course of the season at various times, does your approach at the plate change at all?

ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ: No, not really. I was trying to be consistent through the year. Doesn't matter the results. So I would say I keep the same approach every single time.

Q. And it seems especially they emphasize contact getting on base here. Is that what the message they give to you guys every day or is it something else?

ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ: Not necessarily to just put the ball in play and contact. Just to play to your strengths and be yourself and play the game. If your strength is power, just try to do power, but also play to your strengths. And I think that's what we have been doing.
