Lauren Coughlin

Somis, California, USA

The Saticoy Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Lauren Coughlin after her fourth round here at the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship. The round is not over at the moment, but looks like your first top 10 ever on the LPGA Tour. How excited are you for that?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, I'm pretty excited. I think it hasn't quite set in yet. But, yeah, I've been really close this year and I kind of let the moment get to me at times, but today I was just was very calm all morning, and so I kind of figured it was going to be a good day and it was.

Q. What were some of the keys to your success out there?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: I mean, this is like my third week in a row and this is a hilly golf course, so I think I have just been tired most of the week. So I was just trying to conserve energy as much as possible and not think too much.

I thought the golf course was set up really well for me. I'm a very good iron player and you have to be really precise with your irons out here, so kind of just sticking with it, that this course is my kind of golf course, and staying confident in that.

Then Gary, my caddie, he did a really good job too of keeping me calm. He exudes calmness, so I think that helped a ton.

Q. Going into the last couple events on the schedule, interested to know what your schedule is and what some of your goals are heading into the final half of the season.

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, I mean, I haven't looked at the points, but I think that just locked up my card. I think I kind of already had it locked up because I'm in Korea and I'll be doing Pelican and then hopefully can play my way into CME.

But if not, definitely Korea and Pelican. Yeah, I'm excited. I've never been into any of the Asia swing, so excited to get to go to Korea. It will be nice. No-cut event. Yeah, go home this week for a few days, go to Korea, go home for a couple weeks again.

And then the weekend before the Pelican it's the No Laying Up tournament that I did last year before, so I'll be down in Jacksonville the weekend before having some fun competition.

Q. I love that. Last question: How does this finish sort of give you the confidence to pursue those goals into the last couple events?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, for sure. I mean, a big goal obviously would be CME, but for sure top 80 just so I can get into Chevron. I haven't played Chevron before, so be nice to have that locked up.

So, yeah, that's kind of my goal. It was just really nice getting some putts to go in. I didn't have my best stuff overall today. Kind of got a little sloppy on 14, 15, 16. But I hung in there, and so that was really cool seeing that.
