EPSON TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

October 9, 2022

Jaravee Boonchant

Daytona Beach, Florida, USA

LPGA International, Jones Course

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, 2022 Epson Tour champion. Jaravee Boonchant. How are you feeling?

JARAVEE BOONCHANT: I'm very happy. It's really unbelievable. I still can't believe that I actually won the tournament just now.

I don't know, just very happy and words just can't describe how I feel right now.

Q. Coming down the stretch it really was determined by the last hole. Could have been either playoff or could have won by one. What were the emotions when you got up to the green on 18?

JARAVEE BOONCHANT: Yeah, I saw the group in front make the putt and I knew that I probably need to at least like birdie to win the tournament.

So getting to the green and I saw the leaderboard and I was like, yeah, just really need to make that two-putts, but I saw like the hill in between my ball and the hole and I was just like -- I was trying my best to calm myself down and just do what I've been doing the whole week.

I was happy that I was be able to do that.

Q. Yeah. During the round I know your caddie said that she was checking the leaderboard. She kind of knew the scores and everything. Were you ever kind of conscious of that, where you knew you had to score low, make birdies to win?

JARAVEE BOONCHANT: I just knew that everyone going to go low and play the best today, so I was just trying to focus on my own game.

But I definitely saw the leaderboard after the 16th green and I saw that we were pretty tight up there, so I was just trying to play my own came and just doing what I've been doing.

Because I'm pretty happy how I played the first three days, so just trying to do the same thing for the last three holes.

Q. Amazing. And if I'm correct, you were bogey-free all four days.

JARAVEE BOONCHANT: Yeah.

Q. How does that feel, especially the mental side of it, knowing you have that much golf to play and then coming down when you're in contention trying to win?

JARAVEE BOONCHANT: I actually did not realize that I did all bogey-free until like two of the last holes. I was like, oh, I actually haven't bogey yet.

That actually kind of distract me a little bit, but I was like -- but at that point it was just like, yeah, just going to do what I've been doing and just focus on this shot that I'm about to hit.

I think that's kind of helped me go through like the last two holes with like being pretty tight with the others.

Q. So winning this event, finishing, it does put you at No. 12 on the Money List. So close, very, very close, especially with a great win. What are your thoughts, especially the momentum going into Q-Series and just in general?

JARAVEE BOONCHANT: I mean, I'm just very grateful that I was able to pull out this week. Coming into this tournament I was like flying from Korea and my ranking was like 36. It was just like at the cut line, so I was just hoping that I make a good result and maybe get to exempt from like Stage II.

Be able to win on the last event of Epson Tour, that just make me very happy and proud of how I've been -- I'm just happy that all the hard work has paid off. Proud of myself that I trust the process and not stressing myself out. Too much.

Yeah, I'm just happy to see that I was able to pull it out.

Q. That was going to be my follow up. When you are self-aware that you're in that position, make or break, you have to put a little bit of pressure on your golf game, if you can control your environment, how do you keep yourself calm and staying focused and just present?

JARAVEE BOONCHANT: I actually wasn't be able to do that for the past month. (Laughter.)

But like I have my family and my friends who I was able to talk to, and just talking to them just really make me feel less nervous and less stressed.

Yeah, especially like this tournament, having my roommate caddieing for me, that just really make the round like more fun and kind of distract me from all the Money List and the leaderboard.

I'm just very grateful for those people who were around me and helping me getting through this time.

Q. One last question: How are you going to celebrate?

JARAVEE BOONCHANT: Going to go eat good food. (Laughter.) I'm going to go eat good food with my friends and probably call my parents. Yeah.
