Golf Clubs at The Tribute

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Jess Korda coming off her first round here in Texas. Obviously the wind was a big challenge. How happy are you to even have that just 2-under on your score with all the difficulty?

JESSICA KORDA: Yeah, no, it was playing really tough, some of pin placements and maybe, again, kind of the golf course setup. I think maybe even surprised a little bit with how much wind.

I didn't check it yesterday, so I wouldn't know. Normally I check the wind, but today I was definitely surprised. I hope it doesn't kind of settle this afternoon. I hope it stays up, because just be really unfortunate.

Q. Yeah. With those challenges, how important is getting like a par score out here?

JESSICA KORDA: Yeah, no, I mean, par is a really good score, and putting was even a challenge because we were really exposed, especially I felt like there is just nowhere to hide out here.

As we get closer to the lake it definitely gets really challenging, even just putting. So, I mean, I love an under par any day of the week and I'll definitely take it today.

Q. We talked a little last week about the new driver. Were you able to utilize it at all today? No? Not with the wind?

JESSICA KORDA: I hit 4-iron on 18. I hit it here and there, but it was definitely a little bit more about placement and trying to figure out what clubs we wanted into these greens. With it being this windy, it just changed the golf course a lot for us.

Normally, yeah, we would probably be hitting a lot more drivers. With the wind being the way it was today, we just tried to play as best we could and place the balls where we needed to.

Q. Last question: How does your preparation change for tomorrow, if any?

JESSICA KORDA: Apparently tomorrow is supposed to be calm. I don't know. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Every day is new. Welcome to golf.
