AMAZINGCRE PORTLAND CLASSIC

September 18, 2022

Lilia Vu

Portland, Oregon, USA

Columbia Edgewater Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Lilia Vu. Just wrapped up a really solid week at the AmazingCre Portland Classic playing in the final group, seeing a dear friend win. I know you would've liked that win, but overall, this was a great week for you. How are you feeling right now?

LILIA VU: I'm feeling really good. I don't think I came to this tournament feeling my best with my game, but I made it work.

I mean, Andrea played amazing. She literally hits every single shot like a foot, and I just knew like playing today, I'm playing with like the straightest hitters, and, me, I'm struggling all week to find a fairway.

I think it showed that hit it straighter when I played with them.

Q. What was today like? There were so many players back and forth at the top of the leaderboard. A lot of movement. How aware were you what was going on with the field?

LILIA VU: Not that aware. I knew there was so many different crowds, maybe like three to four different groups cheering for different people, so I really wasn't aware.

I just tried to stay patient and just let the birdies come.

Q. I know you mentioned yesterday your back tightening up a little bit. Was that a problem today or were you able to keep it loose?

LILIA VU: Yeah, I was kind of nervous coming into the morning. I went to see the physio a little bit. That helped a little bit. Even when I was warming up it was still really tight.

It got better as the day got hotter.

Q. You've really come on hot this season. You and Andrea played well at the match play earlier this year. Played well throughout the year. Playing your way into some Solheim Cup contention. How confident are you with your game right now?

LILIA VU: I would say I'm pretty confident. I feel like it's not the best right now, so I feel like there is a lot of room for improvement.

So I'm excited for that.

Q. There might be room for improvement, but this was a really good week, too.

LILIA VU: Yeah.

Q. What do you think from an experience like this, playing in the last group, being in contention, to the rest of the season and beyond?

LILIA VU: I really enjoy playing in the final group. I love the crowds. I think I actually play better when there is more people around. I think it helps me focus more. I'm like okay there is a lot of people, but it's only you and the course. So that's all I was thinking about today.

Q. Before you came in here you ran up and gave Daniela Darquea a big hug. She was just in here talking about the confidence you can get by being out on the Epson Tour. You had the three wins last year; Andrea had the win earlier this year. What does that speak about the opportunities that you have out there on the Epson Tour to learn the game?

LILIA VU: I loved my time on the Epson Tour. I had so much fun. I know they're small little towns, but it was just a lot of golf and it really helps refine good players for the LPGA.

I mean, it's how many -- I played 19 events last year I think, and all the girls that got their card were contending every week. It's a great tour. Love it.

Q. So now, no offense, Epson, you're here on the LPGA, making your stand. What are your goals for the rest of the season?

LILIA VU: Get a win. Yeah. That's always been the goal.

Q. Okay.

LILIA VU: Just one step closer every time.
