Press Conference

KRAJINOVIC-KECMANOVIC/Pospisil-Galarneau

2-1 (ret.)

Serbia - 2

Canada - 1

THE MODERATOR: We are ready to start with the Canadian team press conference. Questions, please.

Q. Vasek, you've put your body on the line. You must be pleased with getting Canada through to the final eight. Can you explain how you're feeling physically now?

VASEK POSPISIL: Yeah, it was a great effort. Definitely pushed the body to the limit in both days that I played.

Yeah, I mean, I have an issue in my knee. I'm not 100% sure. It's not severe, but probably enough so to have to maybe, according to preliminary tests, take probably at least several weeks off.

It's a reality. It's unfortunate.

But, yeah, we qualified, so it's amazing. It's a great week for the team and for me and for everyone involved. It's an amazing memory. For myself, I just hope I can recover as quickly as possible and be ready for the Tour and be ready for Malaga.

Q. Captain Frank, how proud are you of the boys? What does it mean for Canada to get through to the next stage?

CAPTAIN DANCEVIC: Yeah, I mean, it's been an incredible week from the start of the week to today. We've been really, really working incredibly well as a team. All the players, just everybody involved, the staff and everybody. It's just been so much energy, so much positive energy from all sides.

The guys, they played incredible tennis. There are a few matches where we were down in the third set. I mean, we easily could have lost those matches. We just kept fighting till the end. The guys found their way, turned it around.

They put their hearts on the line. It's just an incredible effort from the guys. Incredible effort from the team. That's what it took to win this tie and to get through to the next round.

It's amazing, amazing feeling right now.

Q. Frank, do you remember what you told the guys in the changeover before Spain was serving 5-4? How can you explain that turnaround?

CAPTAIN DANCEVIC: Yeah, well, actually they sat down and I told them, I said, Guys, they're playing too good right now, Spain is playing too good, just go for it. There's no other way to do this than just go for it. This is your chance right now; take your chance.

From the first return, Vasek, bam, hits an unbelievable return. They hit seven, eight amazing returns in a row, got into a groove. They showed up, raised their level, played amazing towards the end. It's not an easy thing to do.

Just an incredible finish to a match because they were struggling on the returns the whole match to get their rhythm. All of a sudden just to find it like that, in the last moment, play at such a high level, it was just an amazing finish and a quick turnaround.

Q. Alexis, what has it been like for you this week?

ALEXIS GALARNEAU: Yeah, it's been a great week for me. Just really inspiring stuff from the whole team, including Vasek. It's been a real pleasure to see him compete, seeing the level that he can reach. Really amazing for me to see it in person, all of that.

I take a lot of positive from this week. Don't have a voice any more, so that's a good sign (smiling).
