Quick Quotes

Q. You had the colors of the rainbow looking at your scorecard. Can you describe to us your emotions?

VICTOR PEREZ: Yeah, I thought the emotions were quite steady through the day. It was obviously going to be difficult once the wind really picked up and felt like we were able to play a few holes where it was okay and then it really picked up, I think as we got to 3, hitting a lot less club off the tee.

So yeah it was going to be difficult. There's still some chances with some of the tees up, and I felt like, yeah, it was one of those days where it was hard to stay steady and make pars. Some holes felt like you really had a chance to drive the ball, and you could hit one good shot, like on 5 with the tee up, you hit one good shot and you could make a birdie; but you go down 14 and 15 and feel like you have to hit four great shots to make par. 50/50, I would say.

Q. What was going through your mind looking at the leaderboard, after making the double on 14 and bounce back nicely with the eagle on 16?

VICTOR PEREZ: I wasn't really paying too much attention because I feel like it's hard enough on long days like this where you really are trying to survive the hard holes, and if you can sneak a birdie on an easy hole, you'll take it.

The double on 14 was a little bit unfortunate. It's a hard tee shot, so you're hitting down straight into the wind. Really difficult lie and felt there was really nowhere to advance. I had the tree in front of me and took an unplayable and then kind of laid up but I had to go over the trees. Stayed in the rough. Felt like it was actually a decent save.

Then parred 15, to get up-and-down, and obviously great bonus on 16, the eagle putt. 17, the ball went on the back of the green. I felt like Jordan hit one less club and hit the most beautiful shot, high fade, lands short and still 25 feet past the pin. So yeah, it was just quite a bit up-and-down I would say for sure.
