DAVIS CUP FINALS

September 15, 2022

Borna Coric

Team Croatia

Press Conference

B. CORIC/M. Ymer

6-4, 3-6, 6-3

Croatia - 1

Sweden - 1

THE MODERATOR: Borna, amazing match. Electrifying atmosphere. How are you feeling?

BORNA CORIC: I do feel a little bit tired, to be honest. It's my second match in 12 hours basically. I just didn't have much rest. It was very, very physical match obviously. I needed to run a lot. I knew that's going to happen because I knew how the balls are. I was watching his match against Diego, as well. I knew it was going to be a very, very tough match. I was prepared for that mentally.

Again, in the second set I thought I just didn't perform very well. He started to play better, as well. I did drop my level little bit. That's what cost me the second set.

Luckily I had the guys there in the locker room, because I went a little bit down after the second set mentally. But they were there for me. Yeah, I managed to play very good third set.

THE MODERATOR: Do you see any difference in your level from yesterday to today?

BORNA CORIC: I just thought I was serving much, much better than yesterday, which I think I lost maybe one break today, and yesterday I lost four or five. That was all.

Much different players, so I cannot really compare it. For sure, I was serving much, much better than yesterday.

THE MODERATOR: How were the conditions? Does it suit your game?

BORNA CORIC: No, I don't like this, to be honest. Can't get many free points from my serve. For my topspin and my game, it's not the perfect court and the perfect ball.

It is very slow. The ball is not going from the racquet. I cannot get much topspin on the racquet. No, I'm not a huge fan of these conditions, no.

THE MODERATOR: Roger Federer announced his retirement. Do you have any words about how you grew up watching him?

BORNA CORIC: Look, you know, he's the legend of the game. I was very sad when I saw the news. But at the same time he knows what's the best for him. I wish him all the best in the next chapter.

I'm sure he's a very well-organized guy. I'm sure he's going to do well in the other chapter. For the tennis, what he's done, it's been just amazing. All I can say is big thank you very much and good luck in the next chapter. Hopefully I'm going to see him around, as well.
