Carlos Alcaraz

New York, New York, USA

Press Conference

C. ALCARAZ/J. Brooksby

6-3, 6-3, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Straight sets. A little over two hours. Your thoughts on how you played today.

CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, I played amazing today. I would say the best match at the moment. Yeah, I feel great to have played this match today, a great level. I'm really happy with my performance today.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. How were you able to come back in that third set? He's up two breaks.

CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, I think Brooksby started to play really, really well at the beginning of the third set. It was really tough, playing aggressive. So I just thought that I had to be focused, to stay playing at the same level. I knew I was going to have my chances to break his serve and stay in the set.

Yeah, I would say he got down a little bit after the second break. Yeah, I make the most of my opportunities in the third set.

Yeah, I just tried to play at the same level and trying to be aggressive.

Q. What were your impressions of Brooksby's game?

CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, he's pretty tough opponent. He beat the best player in the world. He had played great matches. He's a great, great player. As I said, he's really tough.

He's going to be very dangerous for the great players in the future. He's right now, as well. He's amazing.

Q. Nick Kyrgios picked you to win the whole tournament. What are your thoughts on that? With him and his game, how he's doing, can you talk to us about that, as well.

CARLOS ALCARAZ: For me is crazy that Kyrgios says that I'm the favorite or I'm going to win the tournament (smiling). I would say he's one of the favorites, as well. He has the level. I would say he's more serious, yeah, off the court. I would say he plays unbelievable. Everybody knows that. Yeah, he's one of the favorites to win the tournament, as well.

Q. There was a sequence in the first set, you hit three different shots, slice forehand, return... Do you practice all these things for years? Did you practice these when you were younger? You have such a range of shots.

CARLOS ALCARAZ: Yeah, I practice a lot these kind of shots when I was younger. Actually, as well, I mean, as I said before, it is something that I am practicing to doing in the match. That means that I'm enjoying, I'm happy with my level on court. I just trying to play different shots.

Yeah, I mean, it is something that I practiced. That means that I enjoy, yeah.
