Quick Quotes

Q. Annika Sorenstam, 3-under 70. A little bit of a better day today. Did you feel good out there?

ANNIKA SORENSTAM: Yeah, I drove the ball better. I hit some really good drives, but still sprinkled in a few crappy shots, which on this course sometimes if you end up on the wrong side it can be difficult. Missed a few short putts, but I would say overall I was in a much better mood. I had the rhythm, had some momentum. It was fun out there, and just trying to go out there and enjoy and not feel constantly pressure in what I have to do. That's why I played better. Yeah, it was quite enjoyable, but it's a long day. It was a little warmer today and I think I feel a little beat.

Q. It looked like your group had fun playing together, had some fist bumps, and everyone playing pretty well. How does that contribute?

ANNIKA SORENSTAM: I think it makes a difference who you play with. It's a lot more fun, less stressful. Cheering on each other, it's like -- I think we genuinely were happy for each other when we made birdies, and I guess we're Wildcats, so we go way back in a way. I don't know if you knew, but Leta and I, we were roommates. It's nice to play with her here now.

Q. Did you work on something on the range or just more an attitude thing?

ANNIKA SORENSTAM: Mike and I spent some time on the range trying to figure out -- but what's hard, it wasn't like I was missing my drives one way. It was one way and then the other, and that makes it a little difficult. But I tried to just do a little better setup, kind of get my right shoulder down a little bit and feeling like I'm coming more inside and coming around rather than being too square and sometimes coming this way, if that makes any sense. But I think I hit some better drives, and that's what you need here. It wasn't long, but if you're not in the fairway, all of a sudden you have these angles in the rough and it's hard to get to some of these hole locations when you're not in a good spot.

Q. Earliest memory of meeting your college roommate Leta freshman year?

ANNIKA SORENSTAM: Yeah, I'll be interested what she's going to say, but I came from Sweden; I had a golf bag and two suitcases. She came with a U-Haul. Our dorm was maybe a third of this -- yeah, from the fan to here. So yeah, but I remember Leta was a great student, very focused on that, and I think I spent more time on the course. She was a good player and she spent time, but she studied and she was good at it.

But I can tell you also when I got there, I didn't have pillows, I didn't have blankets, I didn't have sheets, and her parents were really nice, and they took me to Target, and I couldn't remember what the word for "pillow" was, so I said, I need one of these, and her dad was like, you need a pillow.
